Journal Entry of Dr. Marlo Daye Toole - Sept. 29th, 1957
"I have returned from the dig in Yemen, Sanaa with a wondrous discovery. After years of research and tireless effort, we have found The Grimorium of The Eye. First referenced in Father Philipe Duman’s 1456 publication, “101 Books Worth Excommunication”, The Grimorium has long been sought after by historians and archeologists alike. I cannot stress enough the importance of this find. Even a brief preliminary study of the tome reveals countless treasures.
The Grimorium has many strange attributes. For one, the book is different every time it is opened. For instance, upon first reading the text, The Story of Bunny Boy & His Dog was on page 24. However, the second time I opened the book I found the story on page 64 and with Aramaic Subtitles. Perhaps the most obvious and apparent attribute of The Grimorium is the large seemingly alive eyeball on the cover. The eyeball darts from left to right, follows movement, even moistens. The diggers were convinced it was a living thing. Clearly it is an ancient illusion created by the book’s original author(s) and cant possibly be real, and yet…the illusion is unnerving. Even now as I write this journal entry, the eye casts its unwavering gaze in my direction.
Little is known about the author(s) of the Grimorium except that they were clearly emotionally disturbed and had way too much time on their hands. Perhaps longer study of the text will reveal more about them and our own history; for it is only through knowing the past that we can truly understand our present folly."
