@martinellen9334 My heart fell when I saw the beautiful old theatre/cinema building in central Castleford. In countries that value their heritage and history, some private or public consortium would have got together to save the building and it's purpose. I'm thinking Vienna, Prague, Boston etc. NOW, the only investor money available is frequently foreign, and ALWAYS looking for maximum return. If it's not THEIR homeland, they give zero fux about heritage buildings and precincts being destroyed. That's when we need Councils, Government and Heritage Protection Groups to make a stand for the future generations. When all these buildings leave a town or city, these places of art and community, then the heart of the town dies. ➡ That noone cared enough to be able to save it is a very strong indication that the English have given up after five decades of continuous oppression and lying, misleading, self-serving governments. IT'S BEEN THEFT OF CULTURE AND PLACE ON A GIGANTIC SCALE.

Nearly every empty building is getting turned into a HMO. The Crown Pub in Nuneaton just outside Coventry is getting turned into a HMO. It used to be a popular music venue.

Planning consent has just been granted for one of these in lowestoft despite the whole street objecting. In other news my neighbour recently replaced his front door, the council have made him change it for one they prefer so he's lost the £800 he paid for the door he wanted and now he's just shelled out another £1500 for a different one which looks virtually identical, apparently Norwich city council now insist on choosing your front door, surprisingly it has to be purchased from one particular supplier at about double the usual cost, I assume the extra is to pay for those chunky brown envelopes?

It's perfectly obvious that there are several companies making a fortune out of housing the dinghy divers and here we are seeing a perfect example of this in progress. Castleford is my home town as well and to walk through the town centre these days, looking at the obviously dodgy, drunken, non-english speaking people is becoming an experience that I find very disturbing..... But what annoys me more than anything is the fact that as a local I am paying for this to happen

Why does everyone goes off on one when a building is turned into a HMO, HMO’s are affordable living. People like this are the reason HMO’s get a bad name! Yes we do need more HMO’s so young people can flee the nest. They are ideal for those who live on their own. Landlords put a lot of money into renovations like this and more ofton than not only accept working professionals. People these days are too quick to judge and only see the negative of every situation!

I never said they are! I said they are ideal! Soon as people hear there’s an HMO they instantly start slagging it off. I know a few young people who left home into HMO, it affordable for them and promotes their independence! Never had any trouble with any of the HMO that I know people living in. People need to stop assuming it’s always bad and promoting negative vibes!
