I have loved "It's a Wonderful Life " since I was a little girl...my Christmas would be so sad if I happened to have missed seeing it that year...I'm 54 now, so I can tell you how shocked and extremely saddened and disappointed when I read about how much he disliked blacks and other people of color...I was completely floored....you may think he's great, but any human being that could make the amazing movies that he made.or present himself to be such a respectable and diplomatic, could have that kind of animosity towards another American is beyond my understanding....I will never look at another movie that he appears in the same again....and as I watch this honor to him, I just shake my head....and this is a respected military man😒

Jimmy Stewart was a favorite actor of mine -- I always loved his movies! I heard him recite a poem about his dog, "Beau" once, on the Johnny Carson show that brought us all to tears, including him! I have that poem now, and read it in honor of my precious dog that I recently had to have put down, after her companionship of over a decade -- very, very difficult. Jimmy understood that, as was obvious in his poem.

He is at rest now this accordion player, this former hunter who became a conservationist, this pilot, this man so desperately in love with his wife, and his twin girls. He is gone now this tall, lanky, stammering small town Pennsylvania boy. Just a average guy , not perfect known off screen to have a violent temper at times just an average joe. Just an average Joe who was the first actor to enlist a year before Pearl Harbor who rose to the rank of brigadier general, and earned many medals as a hero, just an average joe who won an Oscars and Hollywood"s highest honors and respect as well. Just an average joe that everybody liked and admired, who was the best friend a world can have. He cheers us when we are sad, gives us wisdom when are lost, gives us excitement to rescue us from boredom, and boy was he brave and funny. He helped defeat the most evil mad man the world ever knew. He is gone now and is in the arms of his beloved wife, but he has left us hundreds of hours of entertainment, all and all he didn't do bad for an average Joe.

He was one of a breed of men I don't see too much of anymore. And I miss them. Today's heroes are often emotionally lopsided, personally & psychologically off-kilter child-men who may possess awesome, prodigious high-tech genius or entrepreneurship, but as far as simply doing the kind, decent thing for the people who were put in their lives to love and protect, they're out to lunch. I give you the times.

A great actor in drama, comedy and action movies - In 'Destry Rides Again' was the perfect partner for Marlene Dietrich - He was the star of masterpieces like 'Vertigo' with Alfred Hitchcock - But also the man who after winning an Oscar left the Hollywood studios to join the Allies' Air Force in World War II, flew more that 20 combat missions and got plenty of honors and medals. Mr Stewart deserves entirely what the military use to say about a fallen comrade: 'Lest we forget'
