Ironically, X Chronicles is made this way to keep the same movement and pace the 2D Rondo did have, due to SOTN being a new game at the time most mechanics were modernized to fit the new style

Good thing about this game is that the voice actors are good, both in the English and Japanese versions. The japanese voice actor for Dracula is the best one of the japanese IMO (but then again I think the voice actor for Alucard in SotN, both Japanese and English (PS1 version) surpasses the Dracula one in Dracula X Chronicles).

@GenyaArikado No. The onii-chan thing is more like an honorific. Maria in this case doesn't know Richter, so it'd be acceptable for her to call him onii-chan. She'd probably continue to do so afterwards to show her respect for him. As far as the voices, I'm partial to the JP voice cast. Can't go wrong with Wakamoto Norio voicing Dracula, either.

If I understood correctly, you need to use your sub weapon, the UP+Attack button facing the gate. Hope this helps.

I love these sort of games, but they demand Spites over 3D modeling. Or even just some medium between the two. The Richtor walking animation is jerky and really not as fluid as the Symphony of the Night predecessor this game is supposed to sync up with. (Yeah, I know this is a remake of Rondo of Blood.)
