27:44 If I understand correctly, "Elizabeth Bartley, niece of Dracula" is an invention of localizers. In Japanese version she is who she is obviously supposed to be, Elizabeth Bathory, the Blood Countess, the serial killer noble from Transylvania. She is infamous for bathing in blood of maidens believing that it will prolong her youth... which most people now agree she never did and it was a later invention. To my knowledge there is no traceable blood relation between her and historic Vlad III/Tepes/Dracula, though one of the members of her family did lead a military campaign together with Vlad, but he wasn't Elizabeth's ancestor. In short, she is not Dracula's niece. Kid Dracula wouldn't exactly be too weird. If the story of this hypothetical Castlevania Judgement 2 continues from the previous one, then he actually could be written in fairly organically. The main boss of Judgement, Time Reaper, works for Galamoth who started out as the main villain of Kid Dracula. So if Judgement 2 revolves around another Galamoth plot then Kid Dracula would have a good reason to be involved.

My main argument against Kid Dracula as described is because of the dichotomy of the warriors of Light and Night, and Kid Dracula would TECHNICALLY be a Warrior of Light in this case since he was the hero of that game against Galamoth. I would honestly replace KD WITH Galamoth instead as a Playable Final Boss.

To be fair to Dracula having a niece, maybe she's a great niece. He did used to be a human of House Cronqvist before he became Dracula, so maybe she's a distant descendant of the Cronqvist line he particularly liked, and decided to turn. Likewise, Carmilla did have a humanoid form before Lords of Shadow and the Netflix show, she had one in Circle of the Moon.

Kinda sad to not see Aeon back, considering I think he's a pretty cool character and that he was the one who brought the cast of Judgement 1 together in the first place. I also feel like the Aria of Sorrow has a bit too much representation? Counting your DLC picks, it's got 4 characters, which is a lot of a 16 to 20 character roster. I'd probably cut out Graham, personally. Other then that, I like most of this roster. Good work as always, Thorgi.

If there's one thing I've learned from playing fighting games it's that you can make anything work as a character with enough work & creativity. So I'd say keep Balore this huge monster & work around it. Make it so he can't move, but has a long range unblockable grab to force the opponent in close. And to keep with his hulking monstrosity vibe, he wouldn't have hit stun, but he'd be kinda slow & you could attack either his arms or body to do damage.

I honestly think that instead of Carmilla, one could have Blackmore from OoE instead as he has a more interesting moveset to work with, manipulating his shadows to attack for him like a Puppet Character and zoning with his Dark Fireballs would separate himself from the rest. Though with Carmilla, I do think adding in her partner, Laura in some assists would be more beneficial to her as those two mostly work as a team. Either to drain enemy meter or rush in to deal damage.

Honestly great list of characters but here me out for a few more DLC character ideas I have like 4 of my own and I think you might like them. Though 2 of them are more of an unlikely surprise that would be welcome. *LIGHT* _Kokoro Belmont_ I know this sounds like a fake Belmont but she's real and from Otomedius Excellent, a spin off of the Gradius series. She would likely be the Kid Dracula of the warriors of light side. I imagine her playstyle being similar to the Belmonts but for the sake of giving her something unique she rides in her modified Stavros Riding Viper and be a high speed zoner. I don't know how to make a ship work in a fighting game but you could do something similar to Tails is Sonic Adventure 2 and turn the ship into a mech with it's beam whip and such. Plus I can imagine a Super where she uses her Platonic Break, "Lightning Sword" a cross-shaped beam that looks to be a modified version of the Grand Cross. _Solar Boy Django_ This one would be a guest character. Being the main protagonist and a different vampire hunter from another Konami series, "Boktai" Django has equipped a few weapons over the course of his adventures but we'll be going with his iconic main weapon and only weapon from the first game, the Gun Del Sol. Being a solar powered gun, it fires ball of solar energy for his main attack, with it's EX changing to a short range wave in front of him that rapidly drains HP from enemies. He will also be given his Solar Sword from Boktai 2 for the sake of close quarters combat. For Special Attacks, he doesn't do much on his own so I think we could have him tap into his other weapons or even use the powers of his Dark Trance if we wanted to. Speaking of Supers he got a few obvious ones such as his Pile Drivers, a device used to purify Immortals, as he summons Master Otenko to use them. A nice touch could be that if used on Warriors of the Night they are greatly weakened for the rest of the battle. Though this Super can only be used once and deals subpar damage to make up for it. He also has another super in the form of his Sol Trance form from the Japan only Boktai 3 by fusing with Master Otenko. With it he temporary becomes much stronger for a short period of time at the cost of draining the Super meter. He also replaces his Dark Trance abilities with the ability to fire off blasts of sunlight and such. Perhaps having unlimited super meter for the duration of the form but can't use any other supers? *NIGHT* _Aeon_ Despite not being a villian, he was on the warriors of the night side in Judgment. But still I'm surprised you didn't bring him up considering he's supposed to be a major player in the events of the first game and arguebly the best part of it. I imagine his moveset being similar but reworked to be better balanced. Perhaps with a few new moves to make him feel a bit more refreshed. He also NEEDS to have new lines for his Super, "Requiem of the 13th Hour" flaunting the power he has over time or providing words of wisdom. And with these faces I can think of a few while changing things up to better fit the reworked returning faces. Such as... Richter: "You may have made your mark in history, but every mark fades in time." Soma: "Despite everything you still continue to defy fate as the dark lord. You have truly earned your era of peace, reincarnation of Dracula." Django: "Even the power of the sun can not complete with the power of time young hero of another world." _Dark Boy Sabata_ Being the rival of Django from the Boktai series if Django was to join, someone from his series has to join the side of the night to balance things out and why not his older twin brother Sabata. While it's also bending the rules considering that even though he is associated with the dark, the Dark Boy isn't really a villain. Even going as far as to save Django's life on numerous occasions. I imagine him fighting similar to the Solar Boy only with an altered moveset to better fit the Dark Boy. Starting with his Gun Del Hell, the dark counterpart to the Gun De Sol it would work as a slower but stronger variation of it firing Dark Matter. For the sake of giving him a close range weapon he could use the Sword of Darkness, while he never uses it in the games his brother Django has and considering it's the dark counterpart to the Solar Sword it would only be fitting. Though while Django doesn't have much good in the way of potential special attacks besides his Gun De Solar outside of either Dark Trance abilities and other weapons. Sabata has some already existing options, like his Dark Warp teleport or Zero Shift to teleport a shirt distance and bypass enemies. He's also got Ice Spear and Fire Ball to summon several icicles and conjures an icy mist and conjure several explosive fireballs respectively. As for his possible Supers, he has Black Sun which allows him to block out the sun, or any other forms of light, for a short period and Black Hole has him use the Gun De Hell to create a black hole capable of sucking in energy projectiles and enemies to trap them. Side note was considering The Count of Groundsoaking Blood, over Sabata but I think the latter is more interesting playstyle wise and the count is too similar to Dracula anyway. While I imagine Django and Sabata would be incredibly unlikely and more of pipe dream guest characters I imagine many would be excited to see them again.

I know this video is over a year old now and you've probably played Dawn of Sorrow by now and also just know more about Julius in general, but to rattle off some more reasons that he's peak Belmondo besides permanently killing Dracula: -All of his appearances that we've seen firsthand are while he's in his 50s, yet he still appears as the most powerful character in both games, including over Alucard, and was likely even more ridiculous in his prime -During his boss fight in Aria of Sorrow, you can see the castle literally falling apart in the background just from him charging up Grand Cross, before he even unleashes it, and this is directly followed by Soma asking why he's been holding back during their fight -Soma completely trusts him to come kill him again if he loses control to Dracula's soul, and if you get the bad ending in either Sorrow game Julius does exactly that -In Dawn of Sorrow, you have to fulfill the early DS touchscreen gimmick quota by drawing Magic Seals every time you finish off a boss to actually get rid of it, or else it will regenerate endlessly. Late in the game, you come across Julius and Soma asks how he's getting around the castle, to which Julius replies that he just kinda obliterates bosses so thoroughly that they can't regenerate fast enough, shocking Soma who thinks that shouldn't even be possible to do -At the end of the game, there is a barrier to basically Hell that nobody can get through, so Julius decides to just blow it open with a Grand Cross. This serves as an excuse to sideline him so Soma can be the one to go finish things but a wild feat to top off his run through the castle Honestly you could just go with the fact that Alucard scales above Richter who is the other strongest Belmont and that already says enough about Julius, but his feats are fun to think about

something someone must have pointed this already but Elizabeth Barley is based on elizabety Bathory (pretty sure the name was close) a famous duchess for bathing on the blood of young girls to keep being young (with over 100 girls killed and was sentenced to stay impressed on her castle being feed trough holed) and her real-life person and story was used to create one of the first vampire novels, Carmilla, so yeah that's just Carmilla with another name

This is a great roster, and it does feature some no-brainer picks in both the obvious choices and some very obscure characters mixed in. However, since this is Konami we're talking about, I don't think they'd be one to stop at four DLC characters. Trust me, they can still pull the "fanservice" card to get about 50 characters in there. But I'm not going to do that, as I also want to remain hopeful. So, instead, I'll list off some characters that sound most befitting for the DLC lineup: Round #1: The First Terminator Theme: Characters that missed the boat when jumping from the first Judgement game to this one. Fighter #1: Aeon(Castlevania Judgement) Artstyle aside, I'm surprised that the one character that was created specifically for Judgement 1 completely missed the second game. As such, he should be the first of these veteran newcomers to get the callback. Fighter #2: Cornell(Legacy of Darkness) Since we have a few pairs of characters of a hero and a villain from the same game, Cornell should duke it out against Ortega in this game. Enough said. Fighter #3: Golem(Haunted Castle) Show of hands, aside from Kid Dracula himself, who the heck is memorable enough to be part of the Castlevania universe? The only other guy who could potentially do so is Golem. So, that means that he has another reason to return. Fighter #4: Grant Danasty(Dracula's Curse) Screw it, let's go all the way on the newcomers. It's not like there are that many who missed their chances to begin with for this dream roster. Fighter #5: Eric Lecarde(Bloodlines) The only reason why this round has five fighters is to get all the original reps in the new Judgement title, even if more DLC has to be made to get them in. From here on out, the packs will have four characters in it, like the DLC picks you chose. On a sidenote, I called this round "The First Terminator" because that movie's first sequel was called...Judgement Day. I had to give it that sort of title to entice people. Round #2: The New Class Theme: Characters who are new to the Judgement series, yet still have an important enough legacy on their own. Fighter #1: Hector(Curse of Darkness) Remember what I said about Cornell? The same can be said about this guy against Isaac, end of discussion. Fighter #2: Christopher Belmont(Belmont's Revenge) This guy is the protagonist of one of the lesser-known games in the Castlevania franchise, yet he's also a protagonist in that game, so he should be in this. Fighter #3: Nathan Graves(Circle of the Moon) We have more than enough Belmonts in this list, and the Morris family isn't really worthy of the Vampire Killer, so let's just get Nathan Graves as a compromise to both points. Fighter #4: Satan(Lords of Shadow) If we already have Dracula and Death in this game, and if the other bosses are too unnecessary for this slot, why not get the literal Prince of Darkness? Seriously, he makes those two look like chumps. Now, for this final pass, I'm actually going to include guest fighters, but only those who would feel at home in the Castlevania franchise. Well, except for one of these, but we'll get to him later. Round #3: Any Volunteers? Fighter #1: Miriam(Bloodstained) True to my word, the guest fighters have to fit in the world of Castlevania to quality for this. And considering how Bloodstained was created by an ex-Konami employee, has an 8-bit style and a dark overtone, AND has a rather familiar female Indie character, I have to put her first on this list. Fighter #2: Dimitri Maxinoff(Darkstalkers) You guys might be wondering why Morrigan isn't the Darkstalkers rep? Well, she's been exposed numerous times in the Capcom Vs. games, no pun intended, including a variation of Satan and a boss who once fought while buck naked would have already raised the rating considerably, and Morrigan's not the main character here. Dimitri is. That, and Miriam might also fill the girl quota here better than Morrigan would. Fighter #3: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Confession time! I really wanted to include Bella Swan in this, just to see people seethe in anger at the resurgence of the Twilight fandom. However, since Buffy almost got into Mortal Kombat, she was more than deserving of a slot. Speaking of which, has anyone found a pattern to this round? Female, male, female, male. Well, not only is the last rep in this game a male, but he's also why I added that disclaimer at the beginning. Fighter #4: Count Duckula Yes, you're not fooling your eyes. I really just put that British vampire duck in the game. In a similar manner to Satan, this avian makes Kid Dracula look like an everyday Castlevania protagonist. At least that guy resembles a human! Which is exactly he's the one exception to this gang of guests. I mean, when you look at his credentials, he kinda fits the idea of "that era when the classic monsters were for children". Plus, he has ties to both the macabre and the Nickelodeon channel that would make Nosferatu cry in shame. And that's my list. Confused? Angry? In a laughing fit? Tell me your thoughts on this new gaggle of representatives.

While I do love the idea of Ortega, I wouldn't mind seeing Cornell come back again for the Light side to even-out the werewolf rep somewhat. Maybe make him a Bloody Roar-style character who has a kit resembling his abilities from Castlevania 64 and Judgement, but then he can use Super to shift to his werewolf form, letting him perform additional moves and enhanced combos.

Only major changes I'd make are A) I'd make Jonathan and Charlotte a tag team character. light attacks would be Jonathan moves while heavy attacks would be charlotte moves. And B) I'd replace Balore with the Creature, that seems like a no brainer since you wouldn't need to shrink him as much and he's such an iconic boss.

I was still content with none of the Lords of Shadow characters being in the roster, but hearing Gabriel coming in as a dlc character was the cherry on top. And for that bit about Gabriel/Dracul meeting Mathias/Dracula and possibly Soma, I've already thought of a perfect scenario title for Dracul's and Dracula's inevitable clash. I know the logic for that is that he came with the idea of "Let's Make a Sequel" later... I think it's weird for me that "Let's Make a Sequel" is a separated series

This might be a terrible idea, but what about Sonic the Fighters 2 for a Build the Roster episode? I mean, by this point the Sonic series has so many characters and so little gameplay variety that a fighting game might be the only way to make anyone other than Sonic and "Definitely Not Sonic What Are You Talking About" playable ever again.

i think a better pick for a belmont dlc would be juste. juste could be a perfect mix between the speed of richter and the zoning traits of a spellcaster like charlotte or sypha. he can also dash, which not many other belmonts can do normally

great list. I would probably add Cornell, Hector, Eric Lecarde (want spear guy), Count Saint Germain (time travel without him feels hollow),Godbrand (because viking vampire...woot!), Striga (that mountain of muscle in her armor and massive sword...yes please), and Gaibon (demon representation). Grant should be in there as a bouncy ranged character, but unsure whether it is pirate imp or his rule 63 version: Greta. I really liked the Golem from the first game, but no idea how to bring him back without ruining his story. man god help me, but frankenstein gardner from 64 would be great as well, outside game dlc would be Pyramid head and Rick from Splatterhouse.

Would love to see an episode on that, for any of his series about hypothetical games, and, well... What studio owns digimon? Bandai Namco What studio seems to have a good relationship with The Pokemon Company based on making spinoffs for them at the moment? Bandai Namco What studio has a team that's just spent the past about 10 years making entries in an approachable fighting game franchise and have just finished doing DLC for the latest entry in that franchise? Bandai Namco. Give Haruki Suzaki (Both considering his directing role in both Pokken Tourney and New Pokemon Snap meaning he's used to working with The Pokemon Company and the fact he has a few fighting game credits to his name) the Smash team to do it and see what happens. If someone could manifest a fighting game? Now feels like the perfect time to manifest Pokemon vs Digimon.
