Castlevania OoE - Mini-boss Fight - Jiang Shi

I LOLed when I first saw this boss, what a surprise, IGA's put a chinese vampire on the game. Haha, I marked it as Mini-boss since he's just like the Nest of Evil bosses(except for Doppel) who have boss tracks but doesn't drop any soul orbs after the fight. Jiang Shi is found at the end of Large Cavern, which is a bonus area after beating the game. He has only three moves, he commands lightning orbs that chases you but are all easy to avoid thanks to volaticus and he summons mini Jiang Shis that'll... JUMP with him, you can absorb the glyph btw, to get the last glyph if you already got everything else. Also, he likes to chase you, there are a lot of other ways to deal with him but this is how I do it. Hehe, well, that's it. I've covered all the bosses for Shanoa.

Jiang Shi written in Simplified Chinese is “僵尸”, and in Traditional Chinese is "僵屍“. Actually he's not a vampire. Instead, he is a zombie. And he looks like an eunuch who served the emperor in Tsing Dynasty, because there are a lot of stories about how an eunuch in the palace turns into a horrible zombie. At the end of these stories the Jiang Shi is always stopped by a wizard's paper seal. But he's not dead. When the seal is broken, he will move again. Some decades ago, Hong Kong made numerous thrillers about Jiang Shi.

The thing about Jiang Shi is that they are almost impossible to kill. It take a talisman to immobilize them as shown in this game.

It technically is a vampire because they aren't rotting corpses. They are characterized by the same traits in other vampires, just bound by different rules. They also exist through life force, not blood.

That's the beauty of Castlevania: it's enemies and bosses reflect monsters and ghoulish figures from almost every culture's folklore. Though this isn't the first Jiang-Shi in gaming itself: Hsien-Ko predates this one significantly.

For those who have trouble with this boss, I highly recommend 2 Nit.s(Laser) on one set and 2 Mel Scutrum(The strongest shield) or you can do both. While you're still flying back, use Nit when you turn around and it'll keep hitting the opposite direction while you're gliding away from him; it'll also take care of those pesky mini jiang shi he summons. As for the lightning orb, use Mel Scutum and charge into it, you wouldn't take damage(Only do that if you got his glyph, back away and absorb it)

when he dies, the door opens, but if you accidentally attack him, he returns to life and you might want to beat him again but you also can escape.

there's a secret exit from dracula's castle. It can be found using paires in an area at the very bottom of the castle.

The easiest way to beat this boss is to equip Vol or Melio Scutum and a ranged glyph and just attack him on the ground. When he summons a lightning ball, turn on your shield and hold Up. You'll both block his lightning and absorb his glyph. I used this method to get the summon to level 3 easily.

There's a secret entrance/exit in Dracula's Castle, you need to exit there in order to unlock the Training Hall and Large Cavern. It's somewhere in Blackmore's area

i LOLED at this boss. but stopped laughing when he launched those damn lightning balls at me. thank god for the Superior shield glyph. plus the way he died was like....THATS IT?! just put a seal on his face and BAM hes gone? wow...heh..whats funny is when i attacked his sealed body, he came up and killed me! A alternative method to beat him is Rapidus fio +melio falcis+vol luminatio, you will be fast to outrun the balls of energy and capture his glyph, the glyph union combo damage varies 300 to 408 (on my game) , and to destroy those (s.o.b)double hammers and weapon masters, the blow ring will do the job , if you be on level 50 and have a high affinity on blunt damage, vol macir will do a 208 damage per strike,a combo from this glyph can take a weapon master in 7-5s, i just only hope you read this comment, it can save your patience on this dreadful level and give a proper way to fight the boss.

The best way to beat this boss (and any boss) is to use Death Ring, Judgement Ring, Nintesco, and any weapon, then just use the glyph union a few times and they die in a few hits.

This boss is loleasy if you use the shield glyph. I consistently game over'd to the double hammers and weapon masters, but then I beat this guy on the first try... and again after I revived him... about 5 times... without getting hit at all! >_>

Melio Scutum (level 3 shield) and either the slash weapon of your choice (sword, lance, or scythe) or Nitesco work well. You can use strength or intelligence boosts to get in a little more damage while you're at it.

only annoying part when i fought him was those pesky lightning orbs that deal"massive damage" to you if they hit you (but a combo of the first shield glyph and strongest does better defense than double third version of the glyph)

Probably the easiest optional boss ever. Getting to him is harder than actually fighting him. For those who want to absorb 30 of his glyphs to max out the summon, you can use shield glyphs to absorb the lightning balls and make him laughably easy to just absorb the summon from over and over or kill.

So THAT'S how you beat that bloody Jiang Shi! BTW, how many healing items did you have left when you went into this fight? I usually go in with 9 Curries and a Super Potion, then end up wasting most curries, so I think I end up with around 3 when I fight the Jiang.

You'll find in the final area of Drac's castle. You won't be able to finish the game without getting it.

You can farm exp in the zombies in the monastery. Go to a zombie room, stand on a platform and leave Shanoa there, summon the Jiang Shi and let it slay the zombies. Around killing 20K+ zombies, it should be level 3 already, do this by charging your DS and leaving it there.

super late, if you break the Seal once it's applied it restarts the boss fight. Really annoying if you dealt the final blow, the seal comes in, but your attack animation is still going, then it destroys the seal healing the boss fully.

Dude, this is so slow, just use Nitescos plus the magic enhancement thing, I do like 50*4 damage per a strike, and 6-7 strikes every time I'm near him. Even when I was very low leveled, I could take him down before he can summon his third lightning ball, you have like four balls chasing your behind!

Geez this boss was pathetic. It was so hard to break your neck fighting all those pesky Double Hammers and Weapon Masters that when you actually get to this guy you think wow this is sooo easy. I know some people might find him hard but for me he was a breath of fresh air, and fun as hell to kill of course. ^^
