when i fought richter in stone, i equipped holy glasses then IMMEDIATELY after the battle started, i used the Cross sub weapon to beat up the crystalized Shaft and beat the time by like- 4 secs

Leagues ahead of the Smash one. The Smash version is good, but it isn’t all that accurate to PoR’s version with that one electric guitar part with the quickened tempo. This one absolutely captures the Richter fight 100% (I love the Smash version still though even if this is better!)

@@ChrisBelmont Well, it's kind of hard to compare them. The Smash version is Bloodlines (Or Divine Bloodlines if you wanna be technical about it) whereas this version of the song is Bloodlines Bequeathed. Sure, they may technically be the same song, but there's a reason they have different names. They take fundamentally different approaches to the same song (with Bequeathed having an ample amount of electric guitar in it compared to the original, for one) plus they have different contexts, with the original Bloodlines being the start of Richter's adventure, and with Bequeathed being a fight with Richter (well, sort of.) I personally have always preferred the normal version of Bloodlines over Bequeathed, but I think they both stand on their own for different reasons.

Conor Hammack the Smash version is composed like Bloodlines Bequeathed is quite literally, name doesn’t mean anything. They only named it “Divine Bloodlines” because that’s how people know the name, most people don’t know it as Bloodlines Bequeathed unless they’ve looked up the soundtrack for PoR. Only difference is instrumentation, and personally my favorite version is either the Rondo version or Blood Relations, SOTN’s remix.

Conor Hammack also it’s not Bloodlines or Divine Bloodlines here. If you want to be technical, Divine Bloodlines is the name for the HoD and DXC versions in America, while Opposing Bloodlines/Blood Relations of Heaven and Earth are the OG names for both 64 and Rondo. Most people in America played Rondo via DXC and haven’t even played Dracula X outside emulation, so it’s called Divine Bloodlines to appease to that crowd as a general name rather than calling it by its proper name. It’s like with Fatal Fury how most people just refer to Geese Howard’s theme as Soy Sauce for Geese due to Fatal Fury Special, when every song generally is a remix or has slightly different composition, and is under different names in each game until they gave up and just stuck with Soy Sauce for Geese in games like KoF XIV or Tekken 7. Just because names are different though doesn’t make them a completely different song, and in this case Smash’s version was composed the exact same as Bloodlines Bequeathed, which had way different composition than Bloodlines/Divine Bloodlines/Opposing Bloodlines/BRoHE, just different instruments as “Nods” towards the other versions, but literally the same concept.

Yuzo Koshiro was such an odd choice for a Castlevania soundtrack. He and Yamane did a great job, but for me, PoR has one of the weakest soundtrack in the franchise with Dawn of Sorrow.

I think the opposite actually. We’ve got so many fire remixes in Portrait of Ruin, alongside original new songs such as Piercing Silence and Hail to the Past. Such an amazing soundtrack PoR has, but I totally agree with you on the Dawn of Sorrow soundtrack lol

The base in Smash is Bloodlines Bequeathed, but it references other versions, like the one in Castlevania 64 (with the violin). Noble Demon's one doesn't.
