What makes the maker think saying it’s a derivative work that it’s somehow legal? These remakes are not legal cause fair use doesn’t work like this. I actually just started working on a video showcasing some strategies on how to play through this game including the locations of all of the upgrades, although it's going to be a longer video and will likely take a long time to finish. In the meantime, the map shows a little white square on each room that contains an upgrade so if you take a look at your map then you should be able to see any items that you happened to pass by and didn't collect, as well as any rooms you haven't explored yet. For example at 1:42:35 of this video you'll see that I paused to make sure that everything was collected and saw one of those white squares towards the right side of the map which told me that I missed something. If you really need it, I have a preliminary map drawn that shows the locations of upgrades, so I could always make a really short video just displaying the map but I haven't gone through and made sure everything was 100% accurate yet. At 1:37:38 in the vertical room with the spikes on walls and flying green blob monsters, you do a double jump onto the left wall, then another double jump off the left wall, to get above the spikes on the right, then air dash. I cannot perform a second double jump after I have jumped onto the wall. Am i missing a powerup or is my game bugged? My inventory looks full. Thanks.
@subledger.Ай бұрын
Well that's strange. I don't think you're missing any items. How about this...try jumping onto the wall (it's ok if you use a double jump to do it) and then jump off of the wall by hitting the jump button without holding any direction on the D-pad. If you aren't holding any direction when you jump off of the wall, it will cause Simon to perform a bigger jump off of the wall and might set you up for doing the double jump you need. If that doesn't work and there's some bizarre bug preventing it from working, then I wonder if you can do a precise single jump to latch onto the right wall below the spikes and then jump off of that wall with another single jump and air-dash to the left to latch onto the wall. This would in theory put you on the left wall without having used a double jump. I'd be interested to know if any of that works. Thanks for watching!

It's a great fan game, but why dis on COTM? And why would that be the first "Igavania" type game you'd point to? I personally think it's one of the best. The running is annoying, but the level design and scale actually make exploration interesting, instead over every room feeling like a grid and box.
@Sumire9734 ай бұрын
@@El-Duderino-His-Dudeness I don't want to write a too long comment, but CoM is a game that's just not fun to play, the controls are unresponsive (and this goes FAR beyond manual running) making a lot of the hits you take come from Nathan not responding properly to commands every time you press the buttons. The map design is actually pretty bland and full of padding, made worse by the fact that the vast majority of enemies are damage sponges. In relation to this, the game's progression is heavily influenced by RNG, which can unbalance the game in mysterious ways, but the worst part of this is that the fact that since enemies are damage sponges makes the game's flow very slow, making the game quite tedious and monotonous at some point (this starts to happen especially from the sewers area onwards) .Areas like the previously mentioned have an atrocious layout, forcing you to even perform leaps of faith in rooms infested with ice enemies, not to mention that enabling and disabling the switches abruptly stops the game to show the platform's animation, interrupting the action. And the rest of the game isn't much better, I had to quit it because of how much of a PITA was to traverse the castle, plus the lack of shops and money forces you to rely heavily on unnecessary backtracing to save points if you don't want to spend HOURS AND HOURS DOING LEVEL GRINDING AND ITEM FARMING (this isn't an old turn-based RPG for GOD'S sake, not even the first Mother was that bad) the latter which by the way is something that undermines the core aspect of any metroidvania, the exploration, contrary to what people say about HoD, the fact that the player has to stop every so often because he can't progress due to the excessive scarcity of resources makes CoM a much slower game than Harmony of Dissonance actually, where at least there you can progress without interruptions because there the devs did understand the most important pillars of the genre, unlike CoM. Tl;dr I consider CoM a mediocre game and the worst metroidvania if we exclude Simon's Quest, and while as such it is far from being the worst Castlevania (that title goes to Haunted Castle and The Adventure, and maybe Vampire Killer) Circle of the Moon makes many of the same mistakes as Simon's Quest, and still, I'm being unfair to compare them, because at least Simon's Quest was innovative for the franchise, while Circle of the Moon is a failed experiment, something that even Igarashi himself recognized after Harmony of Dissonance was released.

Hmm...This was recorded on a system that's probably inferior to yours then. It's several years old with an Intel i7-6700K CPU and a 1080ti GPU, with 32 gigabytes of RAM. I do have the occasional framerate drop but it's usually just a frame or two here and there when there's more going on, specifically in parts like 33:00 in the video. It's not really noticeable though. The machine is a dedicated one to gaming so it doesn't have many background processes running (with the major exception of the OBS screen recording software) and was not connected to the internet while this was being recorded. If you have an equivalent or better machine then it could be something running in the background like an antivirus/Windows Defender or other programs, or perhaps a ton of browser tabs eating up your RAM. If you're connected to the internet perhaps something there is eating up resources. I'm not a hardware expert but I know some programs run better than others with certain hardware (such as Intel vs AMD CPUs) but I don't know if that's the case for this specific game. It would be interesting to test if it runs better in windowed mode vs full screen mode as well and maybe check Task Manager to see if any specific resources are being maxed. Good luck! I hope you get to play this game the way it was intended.

@OmegaCoolsterDX6 ай бұрын
skill issue but don't be too hard on yourself, it's a rather tough jump to make
@subledger.6 ай бұрын
This might be the toughest jump in the game. Technically it just requires you to jump off of the wall and do a double jump but it's harder than it looks. One thing that might help is that if you jump off of a wall and hold the direction you want to go, you'll do a shorter jump off of the wall...but if you don't hold a direction at all when you jump, for whatever reason Simon will jump off of the wall a bit farther. Then you just have to time the second jump right. It doesn't look like I did the longer jump in this video (I probably didn't know about it at the time) so it's definitely possible either way but the longer jump might be helpful. Good luck and thanks for watching!

@@subledger. I am playing with a Xbox controller and i can not switch between save points. What am I doing wrong.
@subledger.9 ай бұрын
@@firehawk318is There are a couple of things I can think of. If you whip the save point then it should bring up a map screen where you can use the right and left buttons to switch between which save point you want to warp to. If you've only visited one save point then of course you can't warp yet. If you've visited two or more, you'll have to keep hitting right or left until the one you want lights up. For whatever reason it tries to select ones that haven't been revealed yet so you kind of have to cycle through them all by pressing left or right several times until you finally see a save point get highlighted. You'll at least hear a sound when you hit right or left but if no save point highlights then just keep pressing it. It could also be that you don't have enough money. It costs a bit of money to warp and I think the amount is based on the distance. You'll see your current money and the cost at the top of the map screen. Hopefully that helps.

@subledger.6 ай бұрын
One of the best ways I've found to defeat Dracula's second form is by using the Bible subweapon. It destroys his fire and ice projectiles (but not the green ones or the ones on the ground) so it provides great protection while you use either the flame or ice whip to deal damage. The Bible Card helps, and the Critical Card and Healing Strike Card are also nice for extra damage and some extra health. The Bible is also very useful to defend against Dracula's first form, and it's cheap to use. Alternatively, if you can manage to get to his second form with the Rosary subweapon and plenty of hearts (Discount Card and Rosary Card really help here) then you can do a ton of easy damage by just using the Rosary over and over. Hopefully that helps. Good luck!
