The Captain's role may be a small one, but the impact he presents to Isaac is huge

I like it a lot because it scans psychologically with reality, you might be going through rough times and a brief conversation with a stranger you've never met before can change your outlook on things entirely.

It's such a good way to build upon the Original character from Curse of Darkness. Build up the New Isaac for a New Revenge Arc told from his perspective... and then, with a small but crucial side-character introduce a new theme, a new way of thinking. Let it cook... then see what happens naturally Curse of Darkness was one of the few Castlevania games I actually got to play. I loved it. And I love the way Netflix handled Isaac

Hector would never fall for the "good cop" routine. He's too paranoid for it. By showing Hector that she can and will kill him, it settles him a bit. Yes, she's vampire, just as vicious as the others. However, she is less hostile and easier to speak with. By showing violence, giving him what he expects, she reassures Hector that the sweetness is more genuine.

She may be just as capable of violence as her sisters, but she’s seemingly more capable of honesty.

1. Trevor and Sypha having an adventure while literally everyone else is suffering in some fashion is kind of morbidly hillarious 2. The Captain is a character who's screentime is very short, but he's arguibly the most important person to Isaac's developement. He basically shows him that not all people are terrible , while also acknowledging that Isaac's point of view isn't *entirely* wrong: "Basterds need killing" as he put it, but the world has goodness in it and that killing that too would be needlessly cruel. 3. Hector understanding pets more than he does people and now being treated like one is poetic irony at its finest. Won't say anything about Lenore, but she is a suprisingly good addition to the season and I feel like you two are going to like her as a character, but ultimately have mixed feelings about her.

Lenore Is probably one of the few characters who's story arc did not end as correctly as it should by time the show ended.

Beating the crap out of Hector didn't break the "good cop" facade because he started the violence. He also insulted her by underestimating her. He thought she was weak and she corrected that misconception. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Hector deserved that beating (given how he'd been treated so far), but it was a pretty stupid escape attempt.

True. But thankfully he has a head on his shoulder. He learns from his mistakes and begins to truly play the Long Game. Chain a beast for too long, he’ll take the opportunity to kill you slowly.

I really like Lenore in this episode. She's a diplomat, like she says, but dont confuse her preference for peaceful resolution for pacifism.

I feel like Lenore was "level-setting". She came in with a conciliatory tone - providing context and apologies for Hector's past treatment. When he, predictably, lashed out at someone he saw as vulnerable? She clearly and effectively established that this /is still not a discussion between equals/. Now that all of this is out of the way? An actual diplomatic discussion can start, with all cards on the table. Now we're at "I'm offering you the easy way. Everyone else wants to do this the hard way. Can you live with the easy way?" And she'll have to show him why the easy way may be pretty easy, after all.

Hector actually has the advantage in this situation because their entire plan completely relies on him working for them, so if he dies or refuses to do so, the plan goes away. Lenore being the diplomate of the group showed that she wanted more like a "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" business relationship where if he cooperates, he'll get better treatment like how she was giving him actual food. The others don't have any way of making him listen and Lenore is the only one who actually has communication skills that can possibly convince him to help her.
@SJPaladinHawk
@SJPaladinHawk 11 ай бұрын
@@jontaehall2740 Only in the short term. At the end of the day? The Styrians can just cut their losses if Hector proves uncooperative. And he doesn't yet wish to die. Unfortunately.
@jontaehall2740
@jontaehall2740 11 ай бұрын
@@SJPaladinHawk Actually in general he has the benefit because they need him, not the other way around. Hector dies the plan fails, Hector refuses and they kill him it still fails, Hector makes the night creatures and he uses them on the sisters, then that could possibly lead to their deaths. Of course Hector wants to live, but he has no real reason to believe Carmilla wouldn't just kill him after he helps them. End of the day, Hector wins in most cases.

I don't know why they thought that Carmilla's plan was "smart" when there are glaring problems. 1. The biggest is that they need Hector alive and willing to work for them in order to get an army large enough to take over the land. 2. The other thing is that they are trying to expand their territory to a very large scale and don't seem to have the experience to even Occupy and maintain that much territory and people. Running a small kingdom well is very different from what Carmilla's plan will have them managing. That's why Dracula was the ruler that he was because he paid attention to the finer details to make them work.

All it boils down to is Carmilla allowing her thirst for power to cloud her judgement. Probably

Lenore basically said to Hector that she'd rather be friends and treat him well but made it very very clear that he has no chance in hell of playing her or escaping. So his only options are choosing between torture by her sisters or nice treatment from her, and he was basically told he does not have the option of not choosing. In her eyes he has to understand he'll do what they want the nice way or the not so nice way and his only other option is death, and even his death would be at his own hands and nothing prevents them from making him a vampire anyway. So he's screwed from every angle. And that's even without him knowing that Isaac has a revenge boner for him and Carmilla.

Abusers, especially ones that are adept emotional manipulators, can frequently show their victims exactly who they are and yet still hold sway over them. Humans seek comfort in familiarity, in the known, and as twisted as it is even misery can become familiar, and that familiar misery can be made sickly comforting through the cycle of abuse. The interspersing of violent or emotionally degrading incidents with periods of reconciliation or calm where no active abuse is happening and when the abuser may even treat their victim well. Her approach is honestly insidious. She show's him immediately how both soft and harsh she can be, dispelling any idea that she's pretending at anything which paradoxically makes him more likely to see her as being genuine when she tells him things. And honestly don't think she even sees what shes doing as a game or affectation the way Carmilla would, not really, I get the sense this really is just who Lenore is. She sincerely would treat him better, not because she thinks he's equal to her but because she just prefers the softer approach and finds needless cruelty distasteful despite possessing the same capacity for it as the others.

Trevor and Sypha find themselves hired to deal with the trouble in Lindenfeld and acting like an old married couple, the Captain making Issac question his believes, and Lenore showing while she is the nicest of Carmilla’s coven and the diplomat she is still a freaking vampire. Something Hector should have realized before.

As I said in the previous episode, Isaac's path in the show is closer to the path Hector followed in the game. Like Isaac, Hector also met someone who helped calm his anger and reconsider what his quest was about. Her name is Julia, she's a witch who runs the game's item shop and also provides Hector with emotional support along the way. In Isaac's case, Julia's role in the story was divided between the shopkeeper, for obvious reasons, and the captain, for the impact he has on Isaac's arc. There is more to Julia than what I listed, but these are the only relevant parts, here.

honestly i dont see her as being as bad as carmella, she was treating him nicely even if she saw him as a pet he was gonna be clothed and feed, he threatened her life so she punished him like a pet lol yes she is a vampire she can be a bitch and be scary but she was telling the truth mostly she prefers diplomacy over violence just dont take her kindness for weakness.

I know you are a month ahead, but to answer your question about Dracula`s wife. Dracula can`t be held in hell, and it is likely his wife was sent to appease him and keep him in hell. You probably already saw it, but neither of them was being tortured, and they were on a nice corner.
