Awesome job!!! Only 1 thing I would change, that is the description, but only slightly. I would call it Dracula's Castle-Entrance as opposed to just Dracula's castle. When you Started SOTN as Alucard, not Richter, this was the first music you heard. and the area was called Castle Entrance. Only reason is I kinda thought from the title that it would be the music from castle keep.

Ah, Castlevania! It seems like every game of the series has a few memorable tunes. Your good taste for videogames never ceases to amaze me. The world needs more Castlevania. Just to provoke you I'll drop an unpopular opinion here - Aria of Sorrow > Symphony of the Night.
@purpleschala6 жыл бұрын
LMAO CONSIDER ME PROVOKED YOU'D BETTER HAVE GOOD JUSTIFICATION FOR THAT CLAIM SIR
@mad0gre6 жыл бұрын
I could come up with some lame reasons like the extremely neat soul system, or the interesting cast of characters making tons of references to the classic Castlevania III. But I'll be honest. The main reason is the Clock Tower. Or more specifically, the Clock Tower theme. Enjoy it in all its GBA glory: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4KQYYJjm8SYaq8 The Clock Tower is where you face off against Death. And I love how the piano intro - that ends up permeating all the song - clearly references a ticking clock. Can there be a more appropriate theme to face off against Death than one that references that which reminds us of our inevitable mortality? And in true testament to the Castlevania tradition, it manages to do it in an epic and heroic manner. There you go. I never said I had a great reason for my outlandish claim. But a reason nonetheless :P
@drunyon2146 жыл бұрын
Aria of Sorrow is fantastic! I go back and forth all the time on the best game in the franchise-- Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Super Castlevania IV, or Symphony of the Night. They all have a legitimate argument!
@purpleschala6 жыл бұрын
Schadenfreude lmao it’s a perfectly valid reason and Aria is indeed a great game, it’s just for me personally SOTN was a revelation not just for the series but gaming in general. I have heard Dawn of Sorrow is even better but never got around to playing it. I don’t recall that theme but you’re absolutely right that the piano intro kicks ass. I should revisit Aria.
@mad0gre6 жыл бұрын
@@purpleschala Dawn of Sorrow is okay, but IMHO inferior to Aria of Sorrow. Like, as I loved the original game it was nice to revisit those characters, and it is very cool that in Julius mode that you get to play also with Alucard and Yoko. Feels very Castlevania III. But I personally think the OST, the bosses and the artstyle of Aria were superior. For the DS I always heard that Order of Eclesia was better, but I never tried it. But I know that when it comes to Castlevania SOTN is always gonna be considered the pinnacle of the series. I'm the oddball here. I think I should revisit it.

Excellent job. I adore Michiru Yamane. I didn't know a woman could write symphonic metal in 1997 (The Tragic Prince) or combine trip-hop/downtempo with the classic Castlevania organ (Crystal Teardrop) ... but then again, it was just waiting to happen, wasn't it? I think our two epic fandom chis should join forces and finally defeat evil.
@purpleschala6 жыл бұрын
hey hey women were killing it in metal since the 70s. Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Nancy Wilson, to name a few. Also like 80% of the symphonic metal bands that came out in the late 90s/early 2000s have female members and are fronted by women. In video games, I really appreciate how Japan was regularly employing women composers since the 80s, a fact that is shamefully not well known. Some of gaming's best bangers were written by women. Vampire Killer and Wicked Child from the first Castlevania was written by Kinuyo Yamashita, Miki Higashino wrote for Gradius and Life Force as well as Suikoden, Yoko Shimomura was composing for Street Fighter before she was even a household name among Square fans.
@joshuahenry79656 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree. I merely meant that for a female composer to demonstrate a technical mastery of the form in interpolation is still outstanding - especially at a time when symphonic metal was a niche genre even among metal fans. I'd also like to mention Finale Toccata which manages to create real sinister energy even as an adaptation of Bach (or allegedly Bach) . @purpleschala
@joshuahenry79656 жыл бұрын
