Based on these questions alone, one can certainly make the argument that "staccato" correlates with S preference whereas "smooth" correlates with N preference. However, these questions all deal with the external world (external objects and sights, like colors). In questions (which I'll discuss in another video) that pertain to the internal world (personal meanings and connections), the staccato group appears more intuitive than the smooth group since both groups are being forced to use Pi, Ni and Si respectively.

When you brought up the "colors that start with 'a'" I thought of "apple green" but then said "wait is that even a real color?" and then I thought of "azul" and how maybe that could count because it's just in a different language. But yeah how you said Se-users want "things to count" or basically be verified by objective reality, that's true with me as an ISFP. Also, for thinking of what to do with a pen, I definitely thought of all the different physical uses like obviously drawing and writing (I see them as two different things), the pen flip thing, disassembling it, throwing it or using it to stab someone, but I also thought you can use it to write notes on your hand which is something I've done in the past, so yeah, your research seems accurate to me as an Se user :3

I can recall many conversations with NE/SI friends that hit a brick wall since we saw the topic/question differently and the real spirit of the conversation never aligned. P.S. If I was asked the "pen" question I would include: gift to someone demonstrating admiration or acknowledgement of specific Academic achievement. I am drawing from a past experience of gifting a "Fancy" pen to someone. I did steal the idea from the movie "A Beautiful Mind". These videos you're making lately are extremely interesting in my opinion! As a fellow INTJ I obviously appreciated the point of view Alex provided, but I think you having to explain concepts by yourself has lead to way more structured videos (so more informative in a sense) rather than more interactional videos in the past, which might tend to go off on tangents more. Both types have their place of course, but I really think you're going in the right direction and hitting on some very good point here - keep up the good work! :) Also, I definitely relate to the Ni/Se points you made in this video, and notice the same patters in others whom I have interacted with on both axes.

As an ENTP is pretty frustrating that they barely speak about my axes and when they do it they sound so awkward and I can not relate with their definitions. They have a real good system but need to invite people who have different axes. On the video about Fe and two people speaking about Rihanna they totally missed it and we all Ti users gave our opinion in the comment section. I could understand better my Fe in the comments. They need to be more open-minded.

@@valzugg I studied physics at university, and to me this seems as legit as psychology could ever get. If she wanted she could even express some of her findings mathematically. She can give a mathematical description of the eye movements involved (duration in seconds) and associate that with a percent likelihood of getting a certain kind of answer. Credentials are really not relevant to the scientific method. If she knew the math, she could calculate the likelihood that she would get those kinds of answers from a sample size by chance. Of course, this is only the beginning, and she should be open to changing her ideas somewhat in light of new evidence. But I think from what she's said, it sounds like she's found evidence to support the link between microexpressions and MBTI. Psychologists ought to be very interested in what she has done and try to investigate further. What she has done seems totally reasonable to me and I will believe what she has said until something proves/someone proves her wrong.

I said that it wasn’t because they did not use “essential” baking skills like measuring each ingredient. She said that it was because the end result is no different from a chef. I view all elements, concepts, aspects of this universe as concrete/inherent and as humans we give it meaning but she views all elements, concepts, aspects of this universe as unknowable/flexible (she’s agnostic) and she thinks human should think of things as concrete based on what is known/what information is given, hence the all cakes are made equal arguement.

Wow! You're writing a book too?? Awesome! All power to you! This is really, really, really insightful. My mind is really digging it. I'm pleasantly surprised to find your summary of Se(Ni) vs. Ne(Si) to be quite similar with how I've been approaching it in my book. What's particularly interesting is your phrasing that the Ne type will adapt their worldview to the question, while Se will not (perhaps even adapting the question to their worldview?). One way to express the difference here is that Ne/Si is on the whole more "receptive" to the external world, while Se/Ni is more "assertive." And that is because Ne (being similar to Fe) has an element that in the past I've tried to describe as "social," because from the Ni/Se point of view, Ne seems to take the question on its own terms, cooperating with the questioner. But Se never takes the question on its own terms -- it always asserts its own Se terms against the question, to see whether it proves fruitful or just breaks. I've often gotten frustrated when I'm asked certain questions, because I know people want me to answer it within a particular paradigm, or from a particular perspective, but it is often just simply impossible for me to adapt myself in that way --- it wouldn't be "honest." I have to answer it from "the correct" angle, which is the angle I perceive as most concrete and straightforward. Your findings about how people responded to the trolley problem --- good heavens it is soooo insightful. Because I remember being in philosophy class when they brought up the trolley problem, and I remember being so frustrated by it, because I resented the teacher contriving of a situation that had never actually happened and was not a regular occurrence, just to get me to take a position on it, and then act as though the position I took reflected how I would act in the rest of reality. Obviously, the trolley problem is merely an illustration meant to get at an underlying abstract idea, but my Se rebels against this, saying that the abstract idea doesn't correspond or intersect with reality in any meaningful way. What you need to know is not the various abstract approaches to the problem, but the concrete conditions wherein the problem takes place. These conditions may seem to be impertinent, but they always become quite pertinent when one actually lives things out in reality. Of course, I completely flipflop my views once my Ti/Fe steps in. Which is why this is so fascinating to me.

Ahh~ so~ interesting! I remember how I first responded to the train dilema a long time ago when I was in highschool. I think I was much more like an ISTP back then. I couldn't really grasp it as a concept and idea. I kept asking questions like, 'who are the people?' 'Why/how would I be in this kind of situation?' And about the physical realities so I could imagine myself there. But if any more info was given then my answer would change. When given no more info, I said I would go on the track with 1 person, and even if that was someone I knew, I would choose that one, because of the quantity. It either wasnt made clear, or I didn't even consider about how one option involved doing something and the other meant I didn't do anything and then potentially was less to blame. Just being asked the question really unsettled me, I think because I was imagining it as real and felt a little like I had a part in the death of others. And because I couldn't come up with a good answer and because it was hard to settle on an answer. - ISTJ (?)

This is fascinating to me. I come from an experimental psychology background, so the only questions I have are about methods and analysis. Basically, how big are the sample sizes, did you use random selection and random assignment to avoid the potential for selection bias, what population did you sample from, and what quantitative analysis methods were used? Did you use significance testing? I wish I had come across this stuff when I was struggling to find a thesis idea for my M.A. in experimental psychology. I ended up running out of time and had to withdraw as I was unable to think of anything I felt enough passion about to follow through (I was too focused on grandiose experiments beyond the resources of my little university and had to keep going back to the drawing board). The mundane thesis projects my fellow grad students were doing were completely unsatisfactory to me and I refused to stoop so low...at the expense of getting my master's degree. I regret nothing, though, except the $150,000 in student loans I racked up. Anyway, good stuff! I look forward to seeing more of these videos. Who knows, maybe I'll go back and try again with MBTI as my focus. Experimental psychology can be so much fun when you have the right inspiration.

Your video aligns with what I have seen. I think the presence of Te can further ground what SeNi perceives or Ti give flight to NeSi perceives. I know as an INTJ, my creativity is much better with a problem to solve, and I am more likely to explore paths where I can see a way forward, even if I can’t explain why. I find with xNTPs, a goal to achieve and known techniques are not limitations, but logical anomalies are. Both extremes are a bit of a blessing and a curse. That leaves xNFPs and xNFJs in the middle, where perceiving and thinking pull to the middle.

ISFP here. Agree very much with what you said. As a FI dom, regarding the ethical dilemma question, I didn't even want to go through the optimizing thought process to see who will get a shorter sentence. I rather try to first find out more information that was not defined in the question (e.g. Was I the one who committed the crime?) . With the colors, I definitely would not have thought of "Apple Green" as an answer and for the pen question, my answers were all the standard functions like write, draw, strike out, underline, etc.

To be fair, I wouldn't consider taking a pen apart and using it as a straw to be less creative of an idea than putting it in a museum. Also, since these questions focused on the external world (external objects and sights like colors), both groups were showing Pe, so I'm basically forcing the staccato group to use Se, regardless of its position. In contrast, for the questions (not discussed in this video) focusing on the internal world (personal meanings and connections), both groups showed Pi, so the staccato group appeared more intuitive than the smooth group.
@erikabutler68935 жыл бұрын
Brilliant! Your next step would be to do a double-blind study. You get a group of participants and you have their eye movement patterns checked by one group of researchers, but you don't tell the participants what those patterns are until after they write an essay on, say, a question like you presented in the video. Then another group of researchers, who do not know the eye movement patterns of the participants, will judge the essays as exhibiting either extraverted sensing or extraverted intuition. Then after that, you combine it all and see what you've got. A confirming result will be one in which the group of researchers checking the essays are consistently able to predict what the eye movement patterns of the participants will be, based only on reading their essays. If you do a study like this and get results that confirm your hypothesis, then you've got something here that the scientific community may be interested in!
@CasualCognition5 жыл бұрын
Yes! I'd have to teach the group how to read eye movement patterns but it's fairly straightforward. Since the speed of eye movement is often involved, one could potentially even use an eye tracking software for the first part. For the second part, an essay might be too vague and premeditated. I've found that more vague and complex questions yielded less patterns whereas the specific and sometimes silly ones like the color question had extremely high correlation rates. That may be because people are less inclined to consciously think about how they're coming off. Obviously, the researchers would also have to agree on the cognitive function definitions. But for something like this, we can even ignore functions and just observe something like whether someone tends to have contextual associations or symbolic associations for a word or picture association exercise. My findings show that the staccato group is more likely to make contextual associations while the smooth group is more likely to make symbolic associations, but it'd be so cool if something like this was replicated. I also wish that Dario Nardi would sort people based on more objective (tangibly observable) factors rather than on MBTI types (not provable), or rather not sort people at all and let his EEG scans form patterns and types organically.

I just want to clarify something real quick about something you said in the video. You mentioned that an Ne user claimed that a pen's purpose could be to fill a pen holder but and then went on to describe how this blew your mind and actually makes sense. I understand that this was something said in a brainstorming exercise, but for the purpose of thinking I would like to claim that this is actually not true. I started by wondering the definition of purpose, to which I decided upon the google definition which was: Purpose: the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. upon accepting this definition, I realized that this logical relation actually cannot exist since a pen existed before a pen holder existed, therefore a penholder's existence depends on the prior existence of a pen but not vice versa. So while the penholder's purpose is to house a pen, it actually cannot be that a pen's purpose is to be inside of a pen holder since it does not satisfy the definition i.e a pen's creation was not for being housed in a pen holder, unless of course you create a new pen with its new purpose being to be housed inside of a pen holder. Does that mean it is still a pen? hahaha im kidding, I think it does. but anyways, I just wanted to share my thought process on this little part of the video!! thanks for everything you're doing, love the videos!!!!

It has elements of both categories. Lol! For the trolley question I just put pull the lever, because I was thinking of utilitarianism. How to save the most amount of people as possible. It did not even cross my mind who the people were.

For the train one: I would untie the 1 person as fast as possible and then run to pull the lever 😭 And pray to God I become sonic in order to do that For the prison one: I would go for the first option And for the pen uses: 1: Drawing 2: Writing 3: Screwdriver 4: Fidget toy 5: Use it as a stylus Im an IXTP

PLEASE MAKE "SH*T SJs SAY"! I'm the only ESFJ hiding in the corner of these MBTI videos! I'll spread the word and make you famous amongst more Sensors! Since, well... I don't see many here... Here are a few ideas to kick things off: ISTJ: "How many calories does that have?" "Why didn't you tell me that when I had my journal?" "Why would I go to prom? That's not necessary..." *Actually does the work in group projects... that the ESTJs first started* "Why do people say I'm boring?" "I know it's on sale, but that's not on my list." "Yeah I don't really care what they think.... but, uhm... what do they think about me?" "No, I don't like her....... so, uhm... what does she say about me?" "She thinks I'm smart... is that flirting?" "Yeah I would do that, but I have other things on my calendar." "Yeah I would do that, but I have other things on my to-do list." "Yeah I would do that, but I have more homework that's due about next month." "This building needs to be more organized... why are the accountants on the same level as shrin- I mean, social workers?" "This building needs me working behind the scenes; I actually know how to count." "Teacher! Didn't we have homework?" (Stolen, I know) "We need to homeschool our kids; they're always around procrastinators." ISFJ: "Did I forget to take out the trash?" "Did I forget to do the dishes?" "Did I forget to turn on the camera next to the baby crib?" "Am I the only faithful friend in the world?" "What did you say about my mamma?!" "But what am I supposed to do about that?" "But how do I apply what you're saying?" "So you're telling me my problem but not offering a solution?" "I need to know what to do about this..." "Why did you go out at night? That's not respectful to your parents." "Goodie-tooshoes? More like follow curfews." (Yeah that's cheesy I know.. and very stereotypical) "We need to homeschool our kids; they're always around trouble-makers." ESTJ: "Is there no such thing as a stupid question?... That's a stupid question..." "Yeah this would be working better, if... well, you let me do it." "Let's do a group project; that'll teach both knowledge and social skills." "Why do people say I talk the talk but don't walk the walk?" "You know, if you had a budget, that wouldn't have happened to you." "Yeah, I would do that, if I wanted to waste my time." "Why do people say I'm sarcastic? Don't say anything stupid then!" "Are you trying to mess your life up?" "Stop crying yourself to sleep; your body lacks the proper amount of melatonin." "How did you not see that coming?" (Kind of like I/ENTJs...) "Can I take ove- I mean, give you some advice?" "Why are you mad at me? I gave you flowers, didn't I? Are you hungry? Want a snickers?!" (Lol) ESFJ: "I'm such a team player" "I'm so much better with people" "I wish I was an introvert sometimes..." "I can work in my own office... I'm good with numbers, organization, and peo- wait, what? Nonono, this will be next to the kitchen. I got my friends covered." "I have a bedtime curfew... unless my friends are going out." "I wish I understood what I was feeling; I always understand others'!" (Somewhat stereotypical) "Are you listening to me?" "You know what? It's his/her loss." "I'd rather host a show then perform at one... even though I'd outwin all the others." "Why do I keep letting others stop me from doing what I need to do?" "I mean I do like this subject, but I'm studying it for the sake of helping my friend who's struggling with it." "But how does that help me understand people?" "But do you really mean that?" "Yeah, I'm definitely an extrovert." "I LOVE to teach! It's how I learn!" "Why isn't anybody noticing my commitment to them?" "Huh? No, I'm fine, perfectly fine. But are YOU fine?" "FAMILY NIGHT! FAMILY NIGHT!" "Let me add that to my Pinterest... ugh, so many recipes..." (Classic) "Thank you for providing me this!" *How can I give something better...* "Why do people always say I give advice but never listen..." "Why do people say I'm judgmental..." "Why do people say I'm a drama queen..." "Why do people say I'm a gossip girl... *Comes back from a shopping spree* *Looks at bank account* ^"See, this is what you do... every... time..."^

For the pen question, if my answers were : 1. Writing 2. Drawing 3. Using as a ruler (I’ve seen people use pens as a ruler and when I didn’t have a ruler with me I used a pen because of what I’ve seen) 4. Using as a weapon (I’ve been poked with a pen once and it hurt) And I couldn’t really think of a 5th function, would that be SeNi or NeSi ? I feel like I used both because SeNi used practical uses but the Si of NeSi recalled past events. NeSi gave the pen a purpose that’s different from the norm (with the pen-ruler, which isn’t common), but SeNi used physical actions… But again, maybe that’s because I only said uses that I’ve seen before or heard of, instead of making my own uses. But is that SeNi or NeSi? For the train question, I kept switching my answer. I looked at how both sides would feel if the other side was crushed by the train. At first I was like “The one person should be crushed, it leads to less deaths.” But then I thought “But that would be unfair for that person. They died alone!” and I felt sorry. Then, I thought “If the five people got crushed, they would all die together and their deaths would be less lonely.” But right after that I was like “But the one person that didn’t get crushed must feel so sorry for being alive, for sacrificing all of these people. They must think ‘I should’ve died instead! My life is nothing compared to theirs.” So if the one person is fine with sacrificing themselves for other people, they should be the one who gets crushed, but if they’re happy being alive and don’t really care about others, then the group of people should be crushed. Interesting how I thought more about the feelings of the one person instead of the group of people… I think I might be more empathetic with people that I can relate to, so people who are alone/lonely, who give that feeling at least. Here I think it was NeSi because I thought about others’ points of views before mine like you said. For the colors that start with A, I only said “Almond” and I wasn’t too bothered to say more because I was 1. tired and 2. had no idea because English isn’t my first language. Almond was the first one to come into mind because I think I’ve heard that color before. But here I used SeNi because I wanted to say colors that actually exist and count and ones that I have heard of before.

I DO like your approach in the sense of "throwing out a concept to the public" for opening pathways of extracting feedback. Actually I'm constantly building some own concepts, or better said: identifying and collecting atomic systematics for partial concepts. So I'm grateful for new input :-) Combining a particular, very interestingf point you have seemed to be talking around (not directly about) came to my mind in form of mapping the extraverted perceiving functions and their domain correlated time focus to the subconscious motivation behind them. I must have found your elaboration to be from that "rarer sort interesthings" just in the moment when I realised I could associate a correlated time focus to the subconscious motivations as well: dominant function: looking at {conscious time focus] ---> motivated by / intention for [subconscious time focus] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ne: possibilities [future] ---> reasons [past(!?)] Se: conditions [present] ---> purposes [future] That's the way how I understand correlations at this point of time and information. ;-) I appreciated the good time during your readout! =ENTP=

Interesting! Do you mean for example an INFP would be consciously looking at their personal feelings, but this is subconsciously motivated by the future whereas an ENFP would be consciously looking at the future, but this is subconsciously motivated by their personal feelings or did I misunderstand you?

Great video! I tried answering the experiments, though the results were mixed for me. Just a small comment - have you perhaps considered that in the case of the train, whether you ask about who the people are could have more to do with the judging functions than the perceiving ones (how valuable are they to the society, do you have any emotional connection with them, etc.)?
@CasualCognition5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your interesting comment! The trolley problem is definitely a complex one that probably involves the use of several cognitive functions, as well as probably areas of thought that don't relate to the functions. I didn't mean that all the people in the staccato group would ask who the people are - that was an instance of the tendency to visualize the question as a real scenario. I made a lot of observations and am still mapping out the conclusions. For example, high (including some tertiary) Fi users tended to discuss their own emotional response towards having to be in this scenario. People who talked about their emotional effect on others (like the family of the victims) were almost exclusively high Fe users.

Great video Calypso! It's funny, when you originally asked the first question about the tram, I immediately had the same answer as the Se/Ni user, but when you started talking about the pen I had exactly the same interpretation as the Ne/Si user. I've been looking at socionics model G and this model makes sense as to why I had both (TeSx because I use Si and Se) You should check out Ben Vaserlan youtube, it's really interesting.

This video was very interesting! I'm trying to figure out which Pe function I'm using. In the case of the trolley problem, my first thought was: do I have the right to change the destiny of these people? Is changing the fatal destiny of one person who wasn't supposed to die, and save 5 people who were supposed to die, better than doing nothing? Followed by a debate in my head regarding "taking action": in both cases we could say I have killed someone (1 or 5 people). If I pull the lever, I will have killed someone actively. If I don't do anything, I would have killed 5 people passively. Which action was then the "less worst" ?
@littleswallow72584 жыл бұрын
I wonder if my previous thought process is more indicative of Ne or Se? I didn't really think about who those people were. I guess I imagined myself being in a very rush situation, not really knowing who those people were and having to take a quick decision. In regards to the colours starting by the letter "A", in the context of the experiment, I would probably have answered things such as: "amber", "apricot", "azur" because I know these are either considered by many as colours or at least they refer to an object sharing those physical traits. Outside of this, in my discord server, I have named many colours by both "official colours" (refering to the pantone classification for example: rose quartz) and fancy names completely made up (nuclear Garfield = a very aggressive orange). I guess the made up name in this example could still be considered as "Se" because in my head I thought about the orange cat Garfield and added "nuclear" because of the unnatural intensity of the colour? For the pen question, I had the same hesitations regarding putting "writing" and "drawing" in the same category, because while they don't really share the same end, they share the same physicalities imo: someone holding a pen between their fingers and pressing it on a surface while moving their hand to trace lines, curves, etc. usually on a surface of paper, but it could be other materials Can someone relate to my thought processes and lighten me up?
@shamrous7368Ай бұрын
@@littleswallow7258I really late, bud, but I can relate to few thoughts like giving new names to colours based on existing objects. Like, it makes sense to me to refer something as "apricot" cse I know that orange or yellow may be not concrete enough to describe the object. I think that we're both Se cse eventually, even if we start from abstractions, we both tied to concrete world. Like you, I truly thought about train situation as "I NEED TO DO SOMETHING QUICK!!!!" because I know that our world is MOVING ALL THE TIME - there's no place, as I feel, to stop and think while train will politely wait for ya! And Ne users are actually like to stop time and think, as I say, wiiiiiide. That train is stopped (from train situation), people are complex and conceptualised, the movements and details not mentioned - what if one of those people actually can be untied and help you? What if they're all tied not too tight? What if the train will break eventually? What if some people who work on rails actually know about this situation and will change the rails so the train will stop itself??? Ne users hate to be in moving world, as much as I know. I have an INTP friend and, as ISFP myself, I kick his ass all the time to actually do something not only to guess. I also lead him to more concrete answers or just to the end of thought so he can use his conclusions to the real world. But as well - he's potential genius, very smart and his vision in new environment is super catchy. He potentially can invent something new just because how his world of concepts works and that's what I found really fascinating!! So, in conclusion, even if you have some of answers connected to idea world - you're still more Se, then Ne!

color starts with A, i would answer Anger. and then the purpose of pen is to communicate silently. if u ask me a question of whats the purpose of the pen i will not give you a literal answer bec im not a pre school student.. for the train, i think this kind of question is symbolic, this might test ones inner thoughts. i would just simply lie on the rail too.

I have a question. Which types of people (I'm guessing it correlates to certain cognitive axes, perhaps in certain positions?) do you find to be most combative with multiple choice questions and resistant to selecting from limited answers? For context, let's say it's a personality test where they have to choose between two options and indicate the one that describes them "more accurately" (not necessarily completely accurately) or what they are like "most of the time" (not necessarily all of the time). I've found that some people make answering these kinds of questions extremely difficult. They either say that they can't answer because they don't agree with either option (in which case you're supposed to pick "the lesser of two evils," whichever you disagree with least) or because they agree with both options (in which case you're supposed to go with your gut for whichever resonates more closely, even if it's only by a small margin). Even after explaining the way the test works, how the questions are tallied, and the concept of "most correct" as opposed to "correct," it's like they still can't follow the prompt and want to skip any question that isn't worded in a way that is exactly how they would word it. It's really baffling to me, because I, too, overthink questions and pick apart their wording to the Nth degree, but I am still able to answer questions because I understand how the test works, how to follow directions, and can usually glean the intended meaning behind options, even if they're not worded exactly the way I would word them or don't present optimal choices. The way you described Se-users trying to work around the confines of the hypothetical situation to choose options that weren't given (but might exist in reality), like for the trolley question, reminded me somewhat of this behavior. On the other hand, I could see inferior Ne having trouble making the thematic connections between similar sensory examples (those connections might help a higher Ne user realize how their own experiences are similar to those presented by a certain option, even if they have never experienced that specific example). When aspirational, inferior Ne might want to brainstorm possibilities that aren't options, and otherwise, inferior Ne might even be stubbornly resistant to any unfamiliar choices/concepts altogether. But I don't know if it's all about perceiving. I could also see Fi users being reluctant to identify with answers that don't feel authentically resonant with their sense of self. And then on the flip side, I can see Ti users picking apart the wording and semantics of the question and being bothered by questions that seem to contain "errors" or "wrong" options... Yet somehow I see Ti as being more willing to resolve to choose the "most correct" option, than Fi users would be willing to choose the "most authentic" option. Does that make sense? I'm not even sure if I can explain why, but I've just noticed people on the Fi/Te axis seeming more worried about feeling like being categorized puts them "in a box." I could be wrong. What are your thoughts? I guess, namely, which types do you think have these difficulties with multiple choice options (especially when it's testing their own cognition or values, rather than knowledge of some external system/thing)?
@CasualCognition5 жыл бұрын
Gosh I'm not sure. All my questions get answered in video format so even if a question involves different options, people can take as much time as they want to answer, which seems like it would lessen issues of correctness and authenticity. When I was reading your comment, I thought of specifically Ti and Si. ISTPs seems like they would be less likely to pick apart wording. It probably also depends on what kind of question it is. To add a data point, I usually don't have problems answering multiple choice questions. For some reason, I find most official (meant to produce a type) personality questionnaires annoying (probably because of the underlying assumption that you can be successfully put into a box via a few questions) but unofficial personality quizzes (like what muffin are you) fun.

Okay, so I couldn't help but answer the questions. (INFP) The first thing I thought was there aren't any colors that start with A... I didn't even think about making up color names or anything other than primary colors like Red, Orange, Yellow, etc.! With the train dilemma, I just thought it seemed like a no-brainer to save 4 people by pulling the lever. I didn't think about much beyond that. But with the prison situation, I wondered if I was innocent or guilty or if the other person was actually to blame for us being imprisoned. Without more information, I'd go with stay silent since it seems most honest. If I lied to save myself that would be wrong. I also didn't know if the consequences were known before choosing or if the two of us were deciding independently vs together. I wonder, too, if my answer would've been different had I seen a visual of the prison situation. Because if I picture it vs. just looking at it as fact, I think of different possibilities such as staying silent and then when the guard takes my answer and leaves, I knock him out and run away. XD Also, what I *should* do and I what I *would* do are totally different. I answered the pen question like some of both groups, but much more practical. It seems the question itself suggests a tangible, physical purpose or use and suggests something practical inherently, if that makes sense. For me, it didn't seem that there was an option for wildly creative "purposes" for it. I was also thinking how do you *use* it to do something, not what can you *do* with it. Saying what can you *do* with a pen, opens up many more options, like dressing it up and putting it in a fashion show XD. Since the word "pen" was on the screen, I think that was influential, too. So I wonder if you verbally said "pen" or wrote it. That can cause different answers. If I heard "pen" I might think "pin" or "pen" as in pig pen. But because I saw "pen" and the word "use" I automatically thought of pen like a writing pen. A pig pen seems like a really weird sort of thing to make multiple uses out of. XD I answered some like both groups, but much more like Ne & Si. I'm sure your specific type has some to do with the answers, as well. Longest comment ever. Hey, Calypso you should do questionnaires on youtube and let us answer them ;) It's fun. Although we are typing ourselves so obviously it couldn't be used to come to any conclusions.
