Some people do Ayahuasca when they want to explore the deeper recesses of their soul. I feel I experience something similar when I explore the expanse of Devin Townsend's musical catalog and come across songs like this and Equinox. The lyrics of this song speak of missing someone. In listening to them, I realized the person I had recently been missing most was my own inner child. I also realized he was still within me. This world has hurt him, so he withdrew for a while -- but he is still there, and still mesmerized by all the beauty this world has to give.

This is so damn amazing. Casualties of Cool is probably one of the best things to ever come out of Devin's ingenious head. It's different from anything I have ever heard, it's deep, dark, and touching. Ché's voice is a whisper from the heavens. This is simply astonishing. Really wish they come here to Brazil someday, I would certainly be the first in row to see them.

@@chrisbrecht1535 I don't think so. I showed a buddy of mine Devin awhile back and he hated it. A lot. He then fell in love with SYL and realized the song I showed him was by the same guy! There is something absolutely hauntingly beautiful about this song. I have no childhood memories to it yet it's so familiar that it has that feeling. I just can't explain it. This has become the song my man will put on when I'm struggling with my depression. He will take me for a night time drive....and I'll stare at the moon and stars ...and I feel at peace. My soul feels this song ❤️

Matt Cooke I love how you both are communicating after a gap of weeks on which tracks are best. It just goes to show what a beautiful album this is and how every song becomes a discovery. I don't have much hope or faith in the music of today but this song really made me think otherwise. I was listening to this on my nice drive home and came now to hear it again and saw your comments, so glad that you all love this as much I love this track.
