WOW I could not figure out for the life of why the hell my machine would sound so damn whiney when operating. I bought it brand new & that noise you mentioned has annoyed me to death! Always wearing my AirPods when operating. Thanks for that information. Definitely gonna look into buying those pieces

I'm glad I found this video. I'm looking at buying my first ever skid loader. I've been doing research on different brands to see which one fits my needs and budget. The business I'm looking at starting will Concentrate on construction like debris removal and landscaping and farm work. So I'm looking at a Mini excavator and a Skid loader that are Capable of doing those type of jobs. I was considering a New Holland or a Case as they're cheaper roomy and have pretty good service. However due to the shortages going on case won't even let get a quote unless you submit a credit application and agree to buy their machine you can't even test before you buy it. So I decided no thank you. And the other brands weren't much better. So in the end I decided to go with caterpillar for my skid loader. They're a bit more expensive However for what you get from them they're Second to none. Good quality machine and awesome service to back it up.

Picking up my 2022 259D3 this week. Ended up going with the auger attachment, smooth bucket, tooth bucket and Hydraulic Rake bucket. Love everything about it and I didn’t hear a whining noise at all when the test driving it and using the high flow system. I’ll check it out when I pick it up but it seems to have been addressed by CAT. Stoked for the machine!

we have owned (2) 259d a 2016' and now a 2018' 259d. Also have a 16' 226d and a 2017 304 mini ex. All of these machines have been great with very little down time. 226 had a leaky coolant line and we use a concrete breaker alot and the connection started leaking. 304 has had nothing wrong. 259d had a fuel lift pump that we changed out with a 259d3 lift pump to fix it. Also the hydraulic fitting leaked. Then the 259d had a recall on something else that Cat fixed for free.

nice review. Im convinced the 259 is the most productive machine in its weight class. I agree the high flow activation is dumb. I have to carry around an extra plug with a jumper to trick the machine into high flow. My mulcher harness has it built into the plug but a simple switch in the cab would be much better.

Yes it really seems to be the perfect size easy to tow and productive. I ran circle around a svl95 the other day is both running 80 inch buckets. Also lifted 4000 pound bin blocks off semi. Didn't think it would do it. Handles it just as good as a 279d

To activate the high flow you can just make a little jumper wire to run from pins B and K

Sadlon......I have a 2022....259D3. Thanks for the great tip on the whining noise. I watched your video 3-4 times to pickup your meaning.....so the white plastic colored block (white block is originally BLACK) on yours stopped the whining noise. You mentioned a CAT fix 5001....so, when I go back to the dealer should I just ask for fix 5001? Thanks for this video....the whining noise is driving me crazy!

Yes black plastic block makes the whining noise. White rubber one made it's super quiet.

I just picked up a new cat 259d3, so far I love it. However, i Have a difficult time starting it. The key locks out between On and Start and I have to cycle it a few times, then sometimes it won’t even start even after 5 times. Does yours does this, do you recommend starting it another way?

I’ve got a 2020 TL8. I’m concerned about the Kubota engine. I’ve been thinking about something different but it’s close to being paid off.

Tak is a good machine for the money. Especially if you have workers operating. There a tuff cheap beater. Cat is another level of comfort and performance in my opinion. I am flat out more productive with the cat. I'm not brand loyal by any means. Cat is flat out better in the hands of a skilled operator. The cat 259d has Kubota engine. I think the 299 have a true cat engine. Not 100% sure. Kubotas a good motor. Hard to own a machine without a warranty though. I always get the 5 year warranty from cat for piece of mind. Cat has been far better with customer support than any other brand I've delt with.

Keep an ear out for engine not running smooth before your warranty runs out. They got a known injector fault and cat will hang you out yo dry ! Believe me I've just had it 1800 hrs on a 257d3
