Love this engine! But the wacky camera is horrible.

Its amazing how much air pressure you need to get that pneumatic starter motor going to get that engine started .

That's an excellent comparison ;) 😳 After the operator yells "Fire in the hole," you can hear a smaller engine accelerate. And the sound of a pinion gear resonating through a flywheel is obvious as the engine is turned. Gotta be the largest diesel with an electric starter motor Ive ever known. Something this large you would expect to be started on compressed air

:) Terrific comparison. Peculiar how a radial sounds rough when it's "rich," but a large-scale diesel sounds similar when it's starving for fuel

In Dawson all of them on compressed air, that's normal if new or not started in awhile, go this time, no load for it to grab is the problem.🤠

This engine is not operating properly it should had fired right away seems like low fuel pressures are the problem I’ve worked on EMD and General Electric engines that powers locomotives so I know what a sick unit of this size should operate like and it’s not like this

You do realize that is a natural gas engine and not diesel? completely different engine to start and load.

@@HansGurke44 Well, often Im wrong, but occasionally learn something new. So there's a pneumatic starting mechanism that I didnt know about! An air-driven starter motor. This is the first I'm hearing of it... Thank You 💜

bubblelvr1 no I don't think it does have low fuel pressure I think they must have been doing anoil pressure build up run and to check for water in the engine
