No one is making any claims that this is a dog. This is the way cats do it. So they do it different that a dog. Does that make any difference? It is still fun to watch them do it.

I think this great activity for cats, and the cats seem to enjoy it too!

Daniel trains his cats. These cats have no idea what's going on they're just chasing a feather! Daniel's cats have been taught, as a dog would be taught. These cats aren't be trained, just tricked.

This is pretty good for a cat. At least this is headed in a somewhat positive direction. Cats are awesome and very intelligent. One day cat agility will work. Please check out my cats trick video on my page if you get a chance

@orangejulius420 The monks whose temples were 'infested' by stray cats somewhat solved their problem by including them. They trained the cats to do tricks as well as stay out of the way or be involved. I'm sure it is not impossible, training is learning and natural to most all species. People just have to be patient and work for it, more so with cats.

Bnegals hold all the cat agility recors. How did you ger your Bengal to slow down. Mine is 15 lbs, eats 3 cans of cat food a day, and still looks like he is emaciated. I don't think he ever sleeps All he does is jump from one high point in the apartment to another. Sometimes he flies over our heads....

I have to imagine there are no faults in a cat agility show, just completing the course would be impressive enough.

I want to train my two youngest cats to do this. They already will jump up onto things at the click of fingers for no other reward than petting and attention. They are very willing to please. One of our older cats has the personality for it too, she's a puppy cat and will follow you everywhere, but she's got no balance or grace.

I pity the dogs of all the people who have posted here, because clearly you've lost sight of the fact that agility, not matter what species is running the course, is first and foremost all about having FUN. That cat sure as heck looks like he's having fun to me. Either way, since apparently we have a big ol' meeting of The Cat Whispers going on here, surely some of you "He's just chasing the stick!" people would like to post your videos of your cat doing it just like a dog would?

Cats are alot smarter than dogs are, and can't be arsed by human activies and pleasing their owners.

@Buddy0627 My cat does this but she does it for treats. Shes not blindly jumping and going through things. She jumping because she wants the reward at the end. I think it's better to do it this way because then the animal has a choice. Jump and get treat or don't jump and don't get treat. Lol.

I don't agree with Theytookourjerbs, cats are not unloyal, there as kind as dogs,just because they can't do agility like dogs it doesn't mean that their unloyal.
@Buddy062713 жыл бұрын
Dogs mostly have drive to do the course when their competing, cats are just chasing feathers and not actually looking at what they are doing. So when their doing courses its not really showing their ability and instincts of what they do in the wild.

are there cats that are better suited for this kind of thing? I just can't picture a Persian doing it while a Siamese or any of the Devons, Burmese seem more likely.

did you even watch any of my videos to see the difference ??? It's rude of you to say that MY CATS are the same as these cats... Mine are properly trained with a clicker and they understand my commands, and they know how to do a course WITHOUT CHASING A TOY...

I deffo don't agree with pillowhuggertodamax, I think cats as just as good as dogs,hamsters and mice, only some cats are show cats, they are independent, there isn't any problem with cats not being like dogs, they are how they are.
@RatongaBruiser13 жыл бұрын
It's not exactly trained to do anything. I'm sure cats can be trained to do a course, I've seen them trained to do amazing things. If mice and dogs can be trained to do an entire agility by memorization and cues, then surely someone can train their cat to actually do the course, not just chase a toy. THAT I would like to see.

Ok well maybe she just started. You shouldn't be criticising her cats. This was posted in 2007, over 5 years ago. Maybe her cats have gotten better since then. Everyone has to start somewhere. I think its kind of rude of you to tell everyone to go to your channel cause your cats are better trained then hers.

@huskymusher97 You need to stop surfing through KZbin when you fifth grade teacher is giving a lecture at the front of the room. "Dogs were bred to jump" might be one of the most vague, inaccurate things I've ever heard. There are several hundred different breeds of dogs, all bred for different things, and none of those things are simply "for jumping." Also amazingly funny because even a fat, lazy tom cat can jump higher, farther, and faster than any dog could.
