I've been down that path myself. For a long time, one of my cats would wake up his humans early in the morning, with the most consistent time being 6:25am, meowing loudly. When his companion wasn't skittish anymore, he would wake us up even earlier. Our current cat is a lot more courteous when sleeping with us.

My mom had a cat that did this. We'd let him in when it was cold outside. Every day, at 6:30 AM, he would go to the door and meow until he was let out. He wouldn't jump on the bed or couch. He would just meow. Mom's current cat, when she wants out and regardless of what time it is, will meow to go out. The longer she waits, the louder, and longer, she meows. She will actually hiss at you if take too long to get to the door.

They never rest a lot. I used to have them in my living room once but I was always tired n exhausted in the mornings. So then I just built them a separate 40(X)40 feet hall in my backyard. Now they’re in that for the night at 12am or so n out at 8am n I don’t feel lost in the morning 🎉

Potato Bug hasn't gotten big enough to consider head butts yet. But she does go full face-hugger about 15-30 minutes before the alarm goes off. The last few days she's been in Nurse Kitten mode though. I tested positive for covid so it's been a lot of bed time. She's been coming to the bed, putting her paws on my forehead and cheek briefly before curling up super close and purring. She's been staying in the bed all night too instead of zooming all over the place. I guess I'll know I'm on the mend once she starts using my head as a ramp again. :D
