Cat and Crane Face Off in Florida Backyard

A cat and a crane both wanted to show who was boss when they were face to face in Kissimmee, Florida.
This video, recorded by Jessica Dickson in her backyard, shows her cat Vinny in a faceoff with a sandhill crane. In the video, Vinny lies low and stares at the crane before jumping and scaring it off.
The crane soon returns, spreading its wings in an intimidating manner, to give Vinny a taste of his own medicine.
“No animals were harmed in the recording of this video. A screen is between the crane and the cat. My cats are not allowed outside the screen enclosure,” Dickson said.

That’s much of Florida. I’ve had bobcat, foxes, hawks, alligators, lizards, armadillos, otters, bunnies, squirrels and snakes, birds and insects of all kinds in my back yard. The whole state is one big ecotone. People who don’t live there probably don’t realize the cat is behind a big screened porch. Neither was in much danger.
