One time my cat hung from the stairs and he was holding himself up with only his paws and I was pretty young so I panicked and had to drag him by his paws. He didn't fall, but now every time he sits too close to the railing I pull him away because I'm paranoid, because if he were to fall he would be falling directly onto another set of stairs

TL;DR - Fearless 9-month-old cat slips between railing slats, walks along edge, and leaps. Constantly taunts us with balance-beam railing walks after cat-proofing slats. My family has a black cat who did something akin to this literally the day we let him loose in the house (about a month after adopting him because we had another already established cat). Circa January 2022 For context, our house doesn’t have confined hallways; the main entranceway is one giant tall room with an open staircase leading to the upper floor which then leads off into three bedrooms and a bathroom (all doors on this floor technically lead into the main entrance room) So, kitty cat is let out to explore the rest of the house and eventually squeezes between the slats of the railing along the upper floor in the main room. He walks along the thin wood trim between the railing and the one story drop to the ground floor. When he reaches the end, however, there’s nowhere to turn around… so when my Mom spots him he leaps from the upper level down to the lower. There’s now cling-film wrapped around the slats he squeezed through and he constantly taunts us by walking on top of the railing, flaunting the fact that he’s a cat and has next-level balance.
