She was a stray cat that I took in while she was pregnant, she trusted me and she helped me while she gave birth. She didn't quite realize what was going on until she saw it and then nature took its course.

It’s a natural process, but not all animals are able to give birth without assistance. This cat was clearly frightened and confused as she was very young and it was her first litter. I think her owners did a great job calming her and helping her with the first kitten. I hope all the kittens were born successfully. I wish we’d been told how many she had!

To all the ones that say it's abuse and that the person did something wrong - learn to read and learn to LEARN. Domestic Cats - especially the ones you have for years - CALL you and SHOW you their nest. It's normal. Even for cats(some like it private - some don't, just like humans) To have someone around for helping and protecting. It was the cats first birth. It's a new situation, pain and stress , For both parts. The people did good - the cat did better. Don't spread hate on such a beautiful event. The cat had enough trust to let the humans involve in this event so you should too. The girl was a good delivery nurse and it makes me happy to see this. No birth is perfect - but the birth itself is.

Stop with the 'cat doesn't want her there' crap. It depends on he individual. My cat followed me around the house while in labour to make damn sure I /was/ there. She would have had them in whichever room I was in, but I led her to one of her nesting boxes. And as long as I sat there she stayed. If I tried to walk away, she followed.

Yes it is their common instinct however she wanted me there to help her. She kept meowing at me and made me follow her to the room once her water broke and I left she started following me as if she wanted me to stay so I walked back with her and put her in the box. She was still a kitten herself and did not know what was going on. As mentioned before I only helped her on her first kitten in case there were any problems which is very common. She could have crushed the kitten by accident or so many more things could have gone wrong. I do not appreciate the profanity either you can say what you want to say as you are entitled to your opinion however in a more well mannered way. Thank you!

Over Powered. Youre literally a moron. Humans are not the only animals that need help giving birth. Cows need help giving birth, its not uncommon for calfs to get stuck in the mother. Also, Hyenas. They need help during birth but dont get it. 60% of hyena babies suffocate while being born. Also over half of first time mothers are fatally wounded or straight up killed by the process of birth. Before calling other people fucking idiots, why dont you do research? Dumbass.

@kylieflower014 жыл бұрын
I know this is old but any vet will tell you that 95% of the time, cats can give birth all on their own. The difference between cat birth and human birth is, as humans, it is not our natural instinct to know how to properly cut the umbilical cord, or how to properly clean our new babies. And there is a far higher chance of complications with human pregnancy and labor than for feline pregnancy and labor. Cats will chew off the umbilical cord and clean their babies properly, because it is pure instinct to them. Humans do not have this natural instinct, at least not as well as cats do. This is why it is important to do your research when you have a pregnant animal, because some animals need help, and some do not.

People are so sweet in their comments here... You're not dumb, you were doing what you knew to do. When my cat had her first birth, she could not get the first kitten out and was crying in so much pain. I helped her the same as you, and broke the sack around the face and left it to the mother. Yes, cats know what to do, but she did want you there as my cat did. I don't understand why people are so aggressive here. You did what you knew to do. If ever there is a next time for you, petting the spine (not the belly) is much more comforting for cats and dogs when they're in labor.

Ok ppl..this is a DOMESTIC cat..she lives indoors and is around ppl 24/7..so the fact that her owners are with her during the births is NOT disturbing her in ANY way. They are monitering and making sure everything goes well. Plus the cat feels safe and loved when they rub her belly to ease the pain. If it were a FERAL cat..then yea leave them alone..although there are some feral cats who go to ppls homes for comfort and help. Ive had 3 cats in my lifetime give births and all 3 literally begged my attention and if I so much as got up to go get something they would follow me and meow untill i sat back down with them. I also had to assist on 2 occasions because the babies were breached.

I am very happy that I was there to help her and all your rude comments are just ignorant. It is different to state your opinion and it is different to feel the need to put down someone for your own pleasure (bullying). It is actually a disgusting trait in a persons character. To those that got so angry perhaps think about getting a little help for trying to tell me off through youtube. Step out in the world and go help a stray or donate to charities that help strays. There is a whole other world out there that you don't even know, other than being stuck behind a computer. Thank you for your concern and god bless.

Christina Cas: I have a cat that is close to having babies and I was reading some articles and came across KZbin videos which brought me to yours. What I've learned is just like humans every birth is different and every cat is also, some will want you with them others not so much, most have the mothering instincts but not all do and it's best to let them naturally give birth without interference but in a case where something happens and help is needed then you help, you can tie dental floss around the umbilical cord and cut leaving 1in and if the sack gets left on kitties face to long it will suffocate. Lol! I'm sure you know all of this since you stated you have done your own research and talked with your vet, I definitely wouldn't worry about the ignorant people on here that refuse to take 30-45 minutes to do just a little research and educate themselves on the subject.

Yes most cats do want their owners there during the birth. However! They don't want to be touched the entire time! It could literally cause the birth process to stop! Cats know what they're doing and can go through the birth alone, they remove the cord and eat the placenta themselves just fine they require no assistance, they simply want you to be there that is all.

If pregnant women are aloud to have support and assistance during labor, why shouldn't this cat have that either. Both of her owners seem like such kind people and weren't mishandling the cat while she was going through labor. It is alarming when someone is with their pregnant cat and probably pushes on their stomach, pulled the kitten out when it could hurt the mother, ect. I personally had a cat before and she loved finding her way into the closet. We didn't know she was in labor and she was more of a keep to her self kind of feline. When we found her, she had already given birth to her kittens who were completely healthy. It varys on the cat, and it varys on the person.
@juneb3rry5 жыл бұрын
SpaceTrash i think the reason is because thats a cat, not a human, and most cats prefer to be left alone during birth. You should NEVER handle a cat during birth unless they specifically allow you to. NEVER under ANY circumstance touch the cat or kitten UNLESS the cat is allowing you to. Edit: I misread some of that. Sorry.

Cats r not evolved and humans r. Cats dont gelp other cats during labor humans gelp other human bc its what we desire. If u havent noticed cats dont come rub towels on our babies after we have them
@kookieluv67905 жыл бұрын
@@alilioander My opinion is that cats also needs some help during birth. We need to calm them down during birth because the baby will be distressed and as I see in the video, the people were calming the cat down so her baby will be physical strain or distressed. Plus some cats during birth needs some support too. Desire? On hospitals, we help the human during birth because they need help and support. My cat Tally (Short for Tallahassee) just gave birth about 4 weeks ago. When she went into labor she acted just like your cat. I made her a nesting/birth home out of card board boxes and just expected her to have the kittens there on her own. Boy was I wrong!! My dog had 9 puppies about 3 years ago with no help from me whatsoever, so I figured that tally would take care of things on her own!! Well...the night she went into labor she was ok at first but once the kitten started to come out (feet first) Tally lost it. She actually began to run around in circles and hiss as I think she was confused as to what the hell was happening. So in fear of loosing her first born (or any of the other kittens for that matter) I quickly intervened and got her calm. Once the kitten was out... It was completely lifeless and Tally didn't seem to know what to do, so I took her baby...put it on a warm towel and just kept rubbing it (I even got a little straw to blow some air in the baby's mouth lol) until it slowly started to move. Tally gave birth to her second kitten shortly after and began to find motherhood much easier. She took care of the afterbirth like she was suppose to and started to bond with both her kittens. Several hours went by so we thought she was done giving birth. It was almost 5am at this point and I had to work so just to keep an eye on Tally...My daughter stayed home (she is in high school) and watched them. Well at about 3pm my daughter face timed me and said..."um mom, I think Tally is giving birth again ". So I stayed on the phone with her while I headed home and she delivered 2 more kittens. One of them was stillborn and the last was Alive and healthy!! I couldn't believe that she gave birth over 10 hours later!! This was definitely an experience for us all and although Tally had a rough start...she is now the best Mama ever!! (aside from me of course. Lol) As soon as she has weaned the kittens... I will be getting her fixed and all the kittens will have their shots and be fixed before going to their new homes. (Luckily we already found homes for all kittens but I will be sad to see them go ). Sorry so long...just wanted to share my story as I am thankful you shared yours!! I think you did the right thing by intervening and assisting your Beautiful Queen!! Much ❤️

Jennifer Thomas that is very similar. Smila had no idea what was happening she was not even 8months old. Very shocking that it was 10hours after they say maximum is normally 1hour in between. It is upsetting that the one was still born I mean we try to help but in that situation there is nothing you can do. Glad you found homes for the kittens. I was so sad when I gave mine away I still keep in touch though and they send me pics every so often but I had to keep one of them and I actually kept the one in this video and named him Oreo like the cookie since he is black and white lol. Thanks for your story!

Mine gave birth to 6 kittens all in one week. It took her whoke week to get them out. Only ine survived. She wouldn't let me take her to the vet and the vet couldn't come bcs I live far away. After a month even that one kitten died. She is smaller cat, and in her first labor she had only 3 and even with them she had little probelms. He somehow didn't grow, even tho he was healthy and he had normal weight, I mean he wasn't ubderweight for a kitten. He just suddenly died. But i found a stray kitten and I took him in and my mommy cat took care of him and is nursing him. I'm glad that at least I saved him.

Yes, most people don't help cats give birth. In this case she is a house cat. Wild cats are different. The owners did the right thing.
@Shannon-nl1dz3 жыл бұрын
95% of domesticated cats give birth fine on their own with no intervention. Regardless of what you think this is NOT the way to go about your pets birth. The cameras, the petting, the speaking etc...just not needed.

Holy shit shut up you stupid bitch. Did you even watch the video? They DID help. They can't do anything to stop the pain. Just fucking YANKING the baby out just makes it hurt more AND it puts the kittens lives at risk. Birth takes time. It's perfectly natural for a cat to be startled when they get their first litter.

@@alinaarellano1321 No my parents never gave me the validation I needed to successfully develop into an adult. As a result of that I have slowly grown to hate people as nobody has ever given me any reason to not hate them. due to the lack of social interaction my brain has completely ceased development and I am a 14 year old stuck in a 21 year old's body. But in reality I just hate people who don't know what they're talking about. You don't yank a baby out of their mother. They come out slow for a reason. It increases the survival chance of their kittens. Normally I don't care about people saying stuff like this but in this case it would be putting the lives of not only the babies but the mother at risk. Spreading misinformation like that can lead to an incorrect understanding of childbirth and as a result hurt or kill the cat and her babies.

Mine was a stray and I took her in and helped her and I'm happy that I did also happy that I helped her no body would understand unless you live it in reality therefore the comments don't bug me cuz really they don't know it's all hypothetical to them. Cat birth is so stressful. My cat only gave birth to one with 3 still inside. She didn't care for the one so we had to cut the cord ourself. She had to go get a C-section and it was massive amounts of $. They all lived though!

Wait there was hardly any blood when your cat gave birth... When mine did there was so much blood it ruined our sofa. Does it depend on the cat or is it something to be concerned about?
@heinuchung86805 жыл бұрын
Lots of blood is very very bad could mean that your cat was hemorrhaging. You are a lucky cat owner. There will be blood, amniotic fluid but too much blood would mean your cat could bleed to death.

Everyone here is bashing you when if anything, it was great that you were there for her! She clearly did not know what to do, she did not separate the sack from the kitten nor did she break the sack the moment the kit was born. That tells you she's not experienced and could have lost the kit if not a couple from this. Anyone with common knowledge could tell she was stressed until you gave her a hand to bare on, then she calmed down.

Your baby just wanted some company and was scared about what was going on. My cat was like that when I was 17 and she kept followung me one night. I knew she was pregnant and I didn't understand why she was acting so clingy until the morning. I woke up with a pile of kittens and my cat right next to me under the covers. Thankfully I don't move much while sleeping and all the kittens were healthy. I made her a box and put it on the floor next to my bed, but she insisted that they were to stay on the bed as close to me as possible. We finaly compromised with a laundry basket between me and the wall. I would sleep light every night to make sure I wasn't disturbing the kittens.

you did a great job! when I found out my cat was pregnant I did so much research on it and was super nervous about how I might have to help her, luckily all she needed was for me to be there with her and comforting her. People don't understand that sometimes cats do need help giving birth and it's not totally uncommon. Just because yours was fine doesn't mean every cat will be fine.

for those bitching about them assisting, sometimes they need it. If I hadn't been helping my cat when she was in labor, both she and the kitten could/would have died. Kitten got stuck in the birth canal, needed er help. It was only because I was there, hovering, and assisting, that I noticed and responded fast enough to save the kitten. Yes cats have been giving birth alone for millions of years, so have humans. But that wont stop you from going to the hospital when contractions start kicking your ass. Complications are ALWAYS possible. There are much worse videos on youtube to ride in on your high horse with your googled factoids to toe.

Ju lu thank you for your information I only helped her on the first kitten and I was not aware of that even after all the research I did. Rose there is no need to be hostile even the vet told me that if she doesn't do it I would have to as long as I see that the kitten was breathing it is safe to cut it just not too close and to give it time which I did.
