Cat’s Reaction: First Time Seeing Fish In Tank

Today we want to make fried fish, we try to think of a little experiment for cats.
Put the fish in this small tank, this is the first time Molly, Suri and Gogi have seen the fish. You see their expression.
We then found these fishes to be pitiful and decided to release them.

They do this when startled too , tank size doesn't matter. I accidently dropped the ceramic tank decoration while trying to gently put it in and my Betta jumped out of the tank on the floor. I really freaked out but he turned out to be fine when i put him back in. No signs of any external damage or odd behavior afterwards.

It was so nice of you guys to release the fish. I had gone restaurants that have live fish and lobsters in huge tanks. The restaurants are known to serve fresh seafood, but I could not eat anything that I know it was alive a few minutes ago. Anyway, it was so nice to see the fish was set free. She filled the tank with water from the sink which is not with the fish is a climatized too. If the fish was healthy and she dropped it in that water it would not live. To leave it like that and then laying on the floor was cruel.

I don't think tapwater has Chlorine in it, seeing as that's what they put in pool water, to clean it. And if I remember correctly, that's one of the reasons why they don't want people to drink pool water...😅 However, you are right on the preventing an exological disaster part. Invasive species are no laughing matter.

@@sinjin4605 tap water has chlorine but on low enough concentrations that mammals aren't generally affected, but more sensitive animals like fish and especially amphibians low amounts can be devastating. And pools have a much higher concentration even more dangerous to consume. Also lots of heavy metals are in tap water that can seriously injure the fish internally.

When you take a living being into your possession weather to keep it or to eat it, they deserve a minimum amount of respect. Likely you put the fish in tap water so the whole time he was in the container his gills where burning from the chemicals in the tap water while seeing presumed predators outside the container stressing him out, no wonder he jumped. then you left him on the ground without trying to help immediately . If your gonna kill something just bloody kill the thing with Atleast a little respect. I’m a hunter and fisher and this is just cruel. Also I hope to all hell that these fish where caught from the exact place you realeased then, otherwise you will have possibly caused damage to the natural ecosystem by releasing either a possible evasive species, or a fish that carries a disease that will damage the local population.

I temporarily put these fish in the water tank to have time to search in google and youtube to learn how to kill a living fish, after finding out I'm not brave behead and cut the fish's belly. therefore I decided to release it back into the wild. I also came up with the intention to spend 5 minutes recording the cat's reaction to the fish because I have a youtube channel about my cute kittens. Rest assured these are freshwater fish so I put them in freshwater tanks. when released in the wild, they are in very good health. Maybe next time I'll buy processed fish in the supermarket instead of living fish. Thank you for your opinion

Cats In Candace House did you use a water conditioner with the tap water? Otherwise the chlorine and such in the water is still gonna burn their gills. And it doesn’t matter if they where in good heath. Realeasing non native fish into a lake can be DETRIMENTAL to the ecosystem present. You didn’t answer my question, where the fish native species in that lake. If not what you did is considered a crime in most places

Because cats don't actually eat or hunt fish naturally; they evolved in the African desert and are equipped to survive only on the water contained inside the meat of the small mammals they'd hunt in the wild. I really have no clue why humans still associate cats with eating fish.
