I've rescued LITERALLY HUNDREDS of cats and kittens over almost five decades who were abandoned or dumped near my home, starting with two homeless boy kittens, Dmitri and Ivan, in 1976. Not knowing what really happened, i can't judge the people who do this. Sometimes they are irresponsible sometimes not. Reasons why include 1) the cats were "community cats" and no one in the neighborhood really considered them their own but just fed them occasionally, 2) a primary cat-feeder suddenly went to jail or prison and the other family members -- if any -- could not afford to stay and couldn't find a new home, 3) homeowner(s) lost their mortgage, or renters were evicted and became homeless and destitute and could not even provide for themselves, let alone help a cat, 4) drug addiction(s) so getting drugs is their obsession and caring for an animal is their last priority, 5) they moved to an apartment that banned pets because they can't afford one that would allow one, 6) a divorced parent has remarried, but the new spouse is allergic to cats. Maybe, as is pretty common, the people who abandoned Raspy didn't care much about him and just assumed that "cats are very popular, so he will get a new home". In Raspy's case, that did happen, but countless others are not so fortunate. 😢

Probably wasn't even an outdoor cat until his piece of shit owners kicked him out and left. Insane.
@kellybraun70484 сағат бұрын
With indoor/outdoor cats, if they spend most of their time outside, it can be hard to catch them to take them with you in a move (not saying this is what happened, just something to keep in mind when moving). The chaos of a move can cause the cat to stay away (too much noise and change). One of my neighbors moved and her cat took to a neighbor’s porch 4 houses down. Fortunately, she didn’t move far and we were able to confirm that she was coming back for the cat and that another neighbor was looking after her and feeding her until then. Peaches is now happily reunited with her humans and has settled into her new home.

Those people who abandon their cats or any other pet should go straight to hell and be black listed from ever buying or adopting animals again. I have two ginger kitties myself one is 6 year old male Garfield and Orangina she's 2 wherever I go they are coming with me and taken care of I love them like my own kids which I don't have any but ya!

They are not all "monsters". They are humans, and we humans are mostly self-centered. Sadly, it's typical for a lot of people to be so much that way that they care little or nothing about an animal's precious life! 😟

A lot of psychopaths do. I'm not kidding, serial killers care only about dogs than humans. There were at least 2 on Dateline The guy who had just killed a young jugger, I can't remember it was the juggers dog or his own. And another teenage psycho, who had murdered her parents and siblings, and burn them in the house down. She just wanted to make sure she got her dog, and watched her family burn! I love animals too, specially cats, but so many people saying they love pets and not humans, it's such very disturbing! No wonder so many people have mental health issues, lack of concern about fellow human beings does that to your brain.

I never could understand why people abandon their pets. I get life gets hard where you are unable to take care of the pet, but just to leave it to fend for itself is wrong. I had a dog, and unfortunately, I became homeless. I first ensured that my dog was with people I trusted and knew he was comfortable with before doing anything else. I didn't get back on my feet before his death, but I kept in touch and was there when he died. If you can't commit to your pet for life, don't get a pet at all.

It makes me sick that someone abandoned him. Most likely he was an indoor/outdoor cat, but because he was not neutered he was likely really insistent on going out. Since he probably marked his territory, they were likely fed up with him and left him when they moved. If he’d been neutered, he likely wouldn’t have wanted to go out as much searching for ladies, and he wouldn’t mark his territory. Knowing he was trying to get back home, and knowing the new people hadn’t known he used to live there, is heartbreaking. Maybe he was remembering all of the times he had when he lived inside, or he was trying to access places he’d hide out in when he was outside. Hopefully his new humans have gotten him microchipped and they allow him inside. Whatever kittens are around him likewise need to be spayed/neutered and microchipped for their safety. 😊
