Iwanai Resort is a ski resort located in the town of Iwanai, in the Shiribeshi sub-prefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. It is situated on the western coast of Hokkaido and is approximately a 2.5-hour drive from Sapporo and an hour from Niseko. We were lucky to cat ski here at the end of February on a beautiful day with views of the ocean and great snow.
We have been incorporating a day of cat skiing at Iwanai Resort as part of our 'Hokkaido Powder Trip' week. It is conveniently located not far from Niseko and caps off an incredible week skiing in the greater Niseko area.
The resort boasts an annual snowfall of over 15 meters, and its northern aspect ensures that the snow quality remains excellent throughout the winter season.
The cat skiing experience at Iwanai Resort includes six hours of guided skiing, with multiple runs on various slopes and terrain. The snow quality is also excellent, with frequent snowfall throughout the winter season.
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Iwanai Resort is also known for its beautiful scenery, with views of the Sea of Japan and the surrounding mountains. The town of Iwanai itself is a quaint fishing village with a rich cultural heritage, and visitors can explore the town's traditional architecture and local cuisine.
