I need a Part 2 desperately. I can't even begin to say how many times i cried. I'm a lesbian and my family can't come to terms with it. Its not that their homophobic its just that the can't believe it. I really understood April's side of the story, how it could feel having to deal with her mother.

Wonderful movie ! One of the best LGBTQ+ movie I've seen on KZbin ! It's realistic and doesn't try to explain us everything which is sometimes better. Less is more 🙂 I love that Cat is a girl of few words. Her personality and anxiety are on point (the nervous breakdown scene toward the end when she wrapped herself in her blanket hit hard, this is so real, sometimes when things are too overwhelming, you need to feel surrounded by something). I really loved the "shades" of her character. PS : Tell me I'm not the only one to think that April looks a little bit like the singer Adele ? Thinner tho, but her face has something very Adele-ish ! They were so many moments I was chocked by the ressemblance !

Wow, thank you for posting this wonderful film. The performances by Jodie Hirst and Faye Sewell were superb and they were able to bring out all the emotions and thoughts of each character at each point in the film without fail. And the kudos to Daniel Grasskam for his brilliantwriting and directing a story which tells of the world Cat lives in with the loss of her father years ago and her mum in hospital with cancer that Cat knows full well she will never come home again. And to top it off, there is the constant ridicule from some students knowing she is gay, all of this adding if not the sole cause of her withdrawal inward becoming an introvert. Cat in some many ways reminds me of a female version of my older brother, even down to a male version of her body type and facial looks and skin tone, to even the fact he was gay (we lost him at 34, RIP Bro in a random shooting) and his partner was very short with dark curly hair! LOL (he would punch me in the arm for embarrassing him so. lol) As others have mentioned, I'm glad the story appeared to end with Cat and April together though not a happy way to get there at the very end with the rape of April by Steven. I like that the film shows that April has an advocate with her father who tells her that even a parent can be very wrong, even if they feel they are trying to help their child and that those parents sometimes have to learn the hard way, that they are in error. And Cat's mum is supportive of her orientation which is good since that girl doesn't need one more headache to carry around! I think the end scene sums up the starting point of Cat and April's newfound love and relationship together. It truly starts when April goes to Cat's house after talking with her father, but Cat is so frustrated and has already trashed most of her photos and drawings, then basically is so cold to April that April leaves Cat's flat. I think that's when their love story together really begins, because that is the point at which both April (who already knows who she is and what she wants) and Cat (who already has known who she is but only then recognizes tha she wants April enough to run after her) are ready and willing to do what is necessary to obtain their happiness. Everything up to that time is love story foreplay. Start-to-finish it's a very, very good film. I feel privileged to be able to see it free on this channel. The only thing I might add because years ago when I was practicing tax law, I did some probono work for a "battered women's shelter & support center" and the lady who was the head of the accounting department would always tell me how most of their cases were so difficult because of women's fear to come forward after being attacked, to the hospital where the doctors would then call female detectives or other officers to come and take statements which was less intimidating then going to the police station after the hospital. So I've always been subconsciously aware of this even on other sites. I know nothing can be changed on this movie, but maybe in a future film, where you see Cat and April walking up the ramp to Cat's flat, there could have been a quick 15 second shot of Cat walking April out of the hospital door, as a female officer holds the door open, and they take a couple steps and you change to the scene of Cat and April walking up to Cat's flat. So, in just a few short seconds, you can show that right after a rape or assault, attempted or otherwise, you should get checked out at a hospital right away and report the assault to police while you are there. Anyway, thanks again.

Just saw the movie and I loved it. 😍 I love their story ( Cat and April ). Been watching it over and over especially those parts wherein April always stood up for Cat against her mother. Kudos to all the people behind this film. Bravo! 🙌👏👏 I know it has a happy ending but I really want to see more of Cat and April as lovers. I want to see Cat's mother meeting April. April's parent knowing how Cat save April from Steven, not that I want to recall the incident. It's just that April's mother is so condescending to Cat. That she's a bad influence to her daughter because of her gender identity. I want her mother to realize that she's at fault and apologize for her actions towards Cat. I'm not asking for another full length movie ( secretly hoping 😅 ). Maybe a short film would suffice to see the continuation of their story. Thank you so much 😍🥰 Stay safe everyone and take care 💕

I remember having the emo phase as a mid teen. At the same time I was coming to terms with me stepping out and dating girls in secret in high school. I grew up and "thought" I was bisexual for a few years but always wasn't happy the longer the relationship lasted. I did it partly to give my mom some hope of me being bi but I finally told her that I just couldn't fake bisexuality. So here I am, 28 now and still rock the soft emo/ more punk evolved clothing. Does the clothes matter, not really but its something I feel I fit in. Just like I have fit and came to terms with me being a lesbian. This movie just gave me some memories is all lol. P.S. Im glad Im small breasted. Apparently it's attractive to my gf.

This was a YT rec. Thanks YT!!! Don't know why I haven't heard about this movie until '22, but better late than never. I think that what struck me most was that Cat was so shy; literally, the "straight" girl, April, was the aggressor between the two. Heteronormativity is so oppressive that the trope of the "predatory lesbian" is largely a fiction. Generally, a gay woman has to have a lot of encouragement to move on a straight woman, & that is rarely brought out in movies & on TV. And when will males learn that rape is not the way to win a woman's heart? Love the ending: Nothing was neatly tied up. April & Cat wound up together for the moment, & who knows from there? Just like IRL. Hope that April didn't get knocked up.

I remember when I told to my sister that I had a relationship with a lesbian. and she told me that its NOT RIGHT, that i need to consider how mom would feel if she will find out about it and then we both started crying and i told her that, to be with her makes me happy.. but still she did not agree to it.. but after 7yrs of being together still, she left me, coz she think that im not proud of her. coz Im not posting her soc med or visit our place freely.Its really hard.. I hope that coming out is not that difficult. i hope that i have a family and friends who will accept and support me for being who I am. Im single for more than 2 yrs now and still Im afraid to commit to someone, coz I have a lot of what if... Im a bisexual, and still in the closet.

my most favourite queer movie in EXISTENCE!!! every time i watch it i feel so joyful and calm. the love here was captured so well, you can tell its not forced, it seems so natural, and the little clips of them touching eachothers hands and being near eachother was done in such a sweet genuine way instead of someone just lobbing themselves on anyone they find attractive, like it was built up so so well big up to the director. their love is so much stronger as Cat has issues with her family and so does April, so all they rlly want is to be loved for who they r and when 2 ppl clench that need, the power dynamics are intense. even the sex scene was done so respectfully and felt safe and rlly truly loving eachothers energy. i just adore this film.
