Depression in mama cats is true. Didn't ever think of it before but when one of our mama cats started losing her kittens one by one (due to her age, she gave birth prematurely), she started kitten-napping other kittens from the neighborhood. It's sad. They have such an incredible maternal instinct. Lessons learned here: if a mama cat gave birth, adopt at least one of her kittens or have her spayed early. Hope Baby is now ok and better.

As I am watching, it can be also frustrating that probably the reason that her cat became aggressive is because of giving her kitten for adoption and thinking that it will be the best for the mother cat. For me, she is a mother and another thing. That is her only child and they gave it away for adoption thinking that it will be the best for their cat. If I were their cat, I would be angry and frustrated also. When the mother cat takes her kitten to the balcony, maybe she is thinking that it is a safe place for her. We cannot force our action and decisions on others. So she became aggressive. 😔

Not surprisingly, they didn't admonish the owner for doing this to the cat in the first place. There was a peek of self awareness when the guardian said "maybe she would have had a better life if she had a different guardian than me"... probably, maybe, who knows? All we can say is giving away an infant kitten not even finished with its first week of life, IS NOT the right call... just because the kitty kept bringing the baby outside. Why was that maybe? Does it smell because the litter box is always full in every shot? Is it stressful because she wanted her own space? So much wrong done by the guardian, I am sure she regrets what she has done but no turning the clock back. Surprised they didn't recommend bringing the kitten back to its mom.

Two face guardian is more like it not the cat, guardian betrayed the cat by given her babies away, 3 /4 days old, she has no idea or remorse, pretty sad given the fact that the guardian is a woman herself. That’s a pretty lame response to the cat taking her kittens to the balcony. All she has to do is not let them go out until the kittens get older.

My cat was like that too, lasted like 2 days but she changed afterwards. We live in an 4 floor apartment in a small town. One day while my mom going shopping she was absent-minded and forgot to check that if she closed the door or not. I guess there was someone always looking for a chance and took it. Me and my sister was alone at home. My cat was outside of the living room. Suddenly we heard a loud noice. We ran to look for her. Found her hidden under my bed. We slowly took her from there to bring to living room and also were trying to understand what happened. While passing hallway and she was on sister's arms, slowly reached and looked at the door behind wall. We then realized that door was open. Someone came to our door to jerk off! (neighbors wanted cctv for building after that) We really scared and couldn't think to chase after him, we immediately checked around and locked the door, I really blamed myself that I wasn't with her then. Maybe months passed nothing was wrong, suddenly she started to act weird and stay under bed, no eat or drink in day. She had pupil dilation all the time. Then we thought that she traumatized because of that incident. We didn't push her to come out but brought her food and water there and we spent that days in room beside her not to let her feel lonely. We acted like nothing is wrong, it is an ordinary day as other days. Put things for her to play around and she chose a plastic bag. She brought it everywhere she go. After 2 days she was out and came to living room. Then I closed the door and said everything is fine, we are safe. Called her for a nap to my legs. She showed her trust again and let me touch her. I slowly moved and pet her with tears... Now she is normal but afraid of sudden and loud noices. Doesn't like to be with other people or outside or other house. She feels best at home with us. Before that incident she was okay with outside and noises because already she was a stray cat. If we go grandma, she would sleep in car and explore grandma's house, sleep, play... I don't know if she will be social again but I don't want to force her. I can't read her thoughts. Just trying to do things what feels her good. Sometimes I think maybe she partly resemble to me as an introvert with time passes. When there is loud noice it bothers both of us, it is okay to stay at home because I have everyhting I need, no need much people around, when door is knocked we both run somewhere to hide...:') I love you my baby 💙

I personally cant blame the pet owner... some of the comments here are very harsh... as if the owner doesnt have the right to own a pet because shes what? Living in small space? Couldnt give the cat the luxury of things? Cant afford the vet? And worst she took away her kitten? Cmon... ive seen way way worse than this. As a pet owner we all do mistakes along the process and we learn from them. Please dont put your words onto someone else mouth like you know how she feels everyday seeing her once gentle pet turning like this. We all became bad parents at some point... we are no saints. The owner did not say that she took the cat to the vet, she needs a blood test, urine, MRI, ultrasound, etc. Such aggression is often associated with physical pain/hormonal imbalance, not a mental state. The cat started to behave aggressively after giving birth, it’s always risky, traumatic experience for all mammals and can lead to many health problems. And also I noticed that the cat is too skinny while having a normal appetite, and that’s not a good sign. Mental disorders often lead to eating disorder, poor hygiene or too active self-care and animals lose their fur, bite the skin etc. Even if you animal is diagnosed with depression you should provide a complete health check in a clinic. And please, don’t humanize animals and invent emotions for them that they don’t feel. Cats breastfeed their kittens for only 2-2,5 months, after that period the level of hormones that encourage them to take care of their offspring decreases and the milk disappears, and mamas separate from babies. It’s completely normal and healthy behavior to prevent incest, suffering for a year is not normal and as I said above, the reason might be completely different from what the owner imagined
@rayxev Жыл бұрын
the owner gave the baby away because she thought it was dangerous for the kitten to stay with their mom, as she said baby took the kitten to the balcony which is a dangerous place for kitten. But i think the owner shouldn’t gave out the kitten at the first place. She should move them to other places or just cover up the balcony with safety. Sometimes mother cat don’t want to lose their kitten and sometime theres a mother kitten who eat their own kitten. But baby seems like a mother who love her child. So please don’t ever take away a kitten from their mother.
