Wicked Video Don ! Keep up this good work !! You guys rock !! Will TrueCable ever do a fiber termination kit ?
@trueCABLE2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! We have a new sister company called trueFIBER. I suspect fiber termination kits are part of their plan, but for the moment they offer fiber patch cords in many types and lengths. I am only peripherally involved in that endeavor. I helped launch it and vet out the patch cords, but my involvement is minimal at this point. If you search for trueFIBER you will locate them!

I was thinking about using this cable to run to Poe security cameras , the cameras accept rj45 , can I still use this cable ?

Hello mik693. Yup, this cable can be terminated with 8P8C (aka RJ45) connectors. That said, carefully check to be sure this cable is not too thick for your outdoor surveillance camera housings. Some camera brands (specifically the kind that don't use pigtails with a jack on them) won't accept such thick cables. The best way to work with this cable is to terminate both ends to shielded Cat6A keystone jacks and then patch into the jacks with outdoor-rated Cat6A patch cords at the device end. Since the keystones are not weather resistant, you will need to mount the keystone and patch cord assembly into a small weatherproof enclosure adjacent to the camera. The thinner and more flexible outdoor patch cord will then make connecting to the camera much easier, and you will end up with a better-quality signal. I know it is counterintuitive that multiple terminations would outperform just one at each end, but putting 8P8C connectors onto both ends of a solid copper Ethernet cable is not such a good idea. You should terminate solid copper cable to IDC style terminations (keystones, patch panels, field termination plugs).

Is it ok to install this inside a home? I had extra cable and could use it for a few long runs in my house.
@trueCABLE2 ай бұрын
Hello! Unfortunetly this is not a good idea. This is a cable designed for outdoor installation, and not only is it less than ideal for making tight turns inside of a structure, but the cable jacket is LLDPE and not fire resistant. There is also the requirement to bond it to ground. Instead, use Riser-rated unshielded Cat6 or Cat6A for indoor residential installations.

@@trueCABLE what about connecting outdoor cameras to my indoor network rack?
@trueCABLEАй бұрын
@@robertthompson5716 Hello! Bring the connections to a tool-less keystone patch panel. If your rack is 19" wide, then pick up a 1U patch panel and the required number of keystones. This should be done for all of your connections, not just the outdoor runs. Then patch the keystones to the Ethernet switch. Use a shielded patch panel if you have any shielded runs, as you can mix and match shielded and unshielded runs in the same patch panel. Of course you will need to use shielded keystones for shielded runs and unshielded keystones for unshielded runs. The patch panel will further need to be bonded to AC ground (to the rack if your rack is bonded to AC ground, for example) or you can bond the patch panel directly to AC ground via the use of our truePLUG Bonding and Ground Extension Adapter.

Id like to see a comparo of the fluke tester vs these noname testers that claim to do iEEE certification.
@trueCABLE2 жыл бұрын
Indeed! So would I. Cable needs to be Certified to TIA 568 or ISO 11801 to be valid, however. I am not sure where the IEEE certification comes in unless we are talking about bandwidth testing, so these no name testers might be misleading.

@@trueCABLE I tested a few of the dirt cheap noname tone/probe kits. They all have weak probes. The ones that check patch cables seem to work but they have zero surge protection and they put 8v tone down all 8 wires, which gives you short battrty life and tons of crosstalk. The quality kits, your fox/hound, tempo, fluke has a super strong probe and puts a 4v tone down 1 pair.
