GG… How do you record or your what is your recording settings if you don’t mind…
@EpicGamerXander Жыл бұрын
I don't mind at all! I use OBS to record, and my scene has a Game Capture and an Application Audio Capture, both on GD. The Application Audio Capture allows me to mute my desktop audio and only capture my mic and GD audio, so I can listen to KZbin or be in a discord call without that being picked up on my recording. In my advanced output settings, my recording format is Matroska Video (.mkv). With mp4 video, if your computer shuts off during the recording, or OBS crashes, your entire recording will be corrupt. With mkv your recording will properly end, leaving you with uncorrupted video. FLV also does this, but it doesn't support multiple audio tracks, so its less versatile. I use Nvidia AV1 for my video encoder, though if you have an AMD card I'd use AMD H.264 or H.265, and without a GPU I think x264 is the best. My preset is P6, slower (Better Quality), though slow or Medium will give you nearly the same effect. The more powerful your hardware, the slower the preset you can go for, and the better the quality, though I haven't noticed a difference between slower and slowest. I record at my native resolution (in my case 2k), and I set the fps to fractional values, so I can have 120/1 fps, or 120 fps. KZbin doesn't support 120 fps video, it doubles your filesize, and it only leads to marginal gains, so only do this if you have literal terabytes of storage to spare. For instance, the recording where I beat Cataclysm was just under 40 minutes long, and the filesize is nearly 25 GB! The final important tab is the advanced tab, at the bottom of settings. Under recording, select 'automatically remux to mp4'. While mkv is useful to prevent corrupted video, mp4 is a lot more widely supported for uploading and editing. With this setting enabled, after ending your recording, OBS will automatically create a new mp4 version of your recording. Keep in mind, this will once again at least double your filesize. Using my cataclysm example again, the mp4 version is about 5mb bigger than the mkv version, meaning that the total filesize for a 40 minute video is around 50 GB! If you have to choose between 120 fps and remuxing to mp4, remuxing to mp4 will be the correct decision every time, especially since you can just delete the mkv afterwards. Finally for editing, I currently use Shotcut, because it's free and open source. A high quality editing software like this is the reason I record at 120fps. From my experience, 120 fps converted to 60fps in a good editing software looks better than 60fps native in obs, though I believe this is only the case because I play at 360 fps. I know it was a bit of a long explanation, but I wanted to include every setting I remember changing. These are the settings I came to through trail and error, so I'm sure there are settings that can be changed for the better, but I am pretty happy with the quality I'm getting right now. If there's one thing to take away from this, record in mkv and remux to mp4, it will save you hours in the long run. Hope that helped! :D

My completion was definitely helped a lot by beating old Cataclysm before new Cata, because you get to learn slightly easier versions of the parts to gain muscle memory. Funnily enough, the ship part ~40% is, in my opinion, the only nerfed part of the level. It's still definitely a choke point, but practicing the harder version on old cata made the new version not as much of a struggle. The UFO from 35-40 is just memorization and muscle memory, you will get consistent with it over time. For the ship straightfly, I'd recommend releasing your mouse when going through the yellow and mini portals, it made the transition into the second straightfly a lot smoother for me. For the ship orbs, hit them a little bit later than you think you should, it made that part a lot more consistent for me. Finally, the cube after that is similar to the UFO, you should gain muscle memory with that part over time. Those are the things that helped me with that part of the level, but obviously everyone's experience with the level is different, so I can't guarantee it will help. Having less than 10 runs to complete the level is already really good, just keep up your practice and the consistency will follow!

@@EpicGamerXander thank you. i just got the level down to 6 runs and i can do the ufo part consistently now. i definitely have a lot of ahead of me. im at 12k attempts jumping from nine circles. currently im playing on an easier version while holding the same click patterns.

I muted the end because of the audio glitches that start at 70. I thought that hearing the clicks was the most important. Also, my reaction isn't particularly exciting -- after spending ~15k attempts at Necropolis and dying at the infamous ball tens of times a few years ago, the 6k I put into old and new Cata combined seemed like a breeze. Nonetheless, I've uploaded an unedited version for your viewing pleasure! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXfWoalmZb1_d9k
