Another note, it's not a bad thing to go into a town during the day to get a lay of the land, it's going to be very busy but you get the most amount of detail about the map and where to come back at night to do your raiding

They're currently updating the UI which is why the font and text is messed up. Supposedly it will allow mouse interaction with the UI.

Cdda is great. I'm doing an Innawood run but it seems that the adze isn't actually able to make planks Best tip for fighting zombies: Take advantage of terrain movement penalties. The dumber ones will always take the shortest path to you.

I had some issues with the music and had to cut around it, I tried to trim as little as possible but it still ended up a little jumpy

I don't know much about it but I believe there are different "official" versions now. There was some kind of controversy with the guy who put it on steam (not just the pay part I think) and a group of others who continued the project as it used to be, I believe. Apologies I don't know the details, but I wanted to mention that you can find a few versions of this great game and some seem more accepted in the CDDA community (as in, NOT the steam version) than others. Do your research before you buy.

The money from the Steam version goes to one guy, apparently with the consent of the main devs. There is an alternate version of Cata called Bright Nights, which is being developed by a former dev. It doesn't have a lot of the convoluted systems like pockets and it's supposed to be a less, serious, more fun, and gameplay first version from what I've seen. I've never played it though. It's unethical, in my opinion, to sell a game built on the free work of developers donating their time and skill over more than a decade without compensating or getting permission from previous contributors.

@Garrette63 thanks for the info. Did you mean "without the consent"? Later you said without permission from contributors, so I just wanted to check. I knew based on what I heard that I wouldn't be buying it. I still have the version from just before the split (I think) and it suits me fine. I'd be interested in checking out the other version but the seriousness of it is what I liked.

This is the first time I watched someone play this with a textured map, didn't know it exists, I need to try this game, but ASCII kept me away from it, even tho it was the map, the menus look also much better than I remember them.
