I have this huge catalpa tree. For about 5 years, I collected a few pros and cons to have this tree. Please watch how much you agree.

I was recently given a catalpa tree. After much research, i concluded that the beauty of it was worth the troubles. At this time, i'm battling the transplant process. It is holding it''s own at this time. The leaves have drooped slightly, but I'm confident that i can revive it. I can't wait until it blooms. The flowers look magnificent!🎉

Yes. They can adapt all sorts of soil. I am sure it can do well in the end. My tree bloomed. It’s amazing

I heard that young tree would not bloom for few years. Is that true? I saw one very mature tree recently.It was beautiful. Found name, collected seeds, planted them couple days ago and they germinated already. Wow! But I decided to order one online 2-3 y.o. to expedite the process. Also like Redbud trees

I love my Catalpas. I just grind up the blossoms and leaves with my lawnmower.

Got you. I have about 30 feet tall - really huge catalpa tree. This year, the blossom work was not too bad, but I am already shook about the leaves this fall. :p

Thank you for making this video, it’s good to see a year in the life of this tree. I was given a 6ft tree but we are on quite an exposed site having trouble deciding where to plant it.

Mine is above 50 feet high as you see in the video. I have been picking up seed pods all winter, spring, and even now. 😭

To many people complaining about simple maintence of a tree! Any tree is worthwhile & beautiful for your yard & wildlife. If you complain about the "work" this tree will cause then buy a plastic one and when you get tired of it...just throw it away

Hahahah … you are so right. I am not complaining though. Just stating it requires some works. My tree is about 30 feet tall and it has constant droppings 😅

Leaves are the perfect brown material for compost or mulch. Don't understand gardeners who dislike leaves.
@babochon2 жыл бұрын
I have to admit it took a long time to compost it because the leaves are rather thick. 😅
@scifi852 жыл бұрын
@@babochon ok, that makes sense. Probably the dislike here is not leaves as is but leaves that are not suitable well for composting.

It is really easy to grow! But you need to be careful because this tree could be invasive. It grows so many seed pods. Since spring, I have been taking out seedlings growing everywhere in my garden.

Curious. I have 5 acres and can put mine 3 acres away by and pond -- is that the only low maintenance location advised? AWAY from everyone and everything. 😂

Hahahah … what I am implying in this video is that you need to know what you are getting into. Don’t get me wrong. It is beautiful but you need to prepare for a couple of things. 😅

All I have seen in Louisiana is the Southern catalpa which is a smaller tree and you hardly ever see one growing upright with a straight trunk. Always leaning with bad form. I believe in nature they would only be found along streams and leaning over the water.
@babochon2 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. There is a stark difference between southern catalpa tree and northern. As you said, southern one is smaller but has more flowers.

Here in Oregon, the seed pods never completely fall off. I would say 50/50 pods on tree and on the ground. How can i get rid of old seed pods from tree?
@babochon5 ай бұрын
Only rely on winds. I guess there is no other way. When they do, it is yet another chore because you need to pick them up. 😑

My god those flowers dry up in a day cant even see them
@babochon2 ай бұрын
The flowers don’t last long. A day or two. You get some cleanup to do. 😅
