Fair or not, it’s natural to compare top of the line models from each manufacturer. The 9r is now in its 3rd model year as Polaris’ top of the heap n/a sled. Cat touted this platform as being revolutionary and able to compete with the other manufacturers top of the line models even going so far as to say they chose not to offer a factory turbo as the 858’s power to weight ratio was on par with the competitions models including turbos. Are the consumers now supposed to excuse cat again for being years behind. 858 is actually 2 lbs heavier wet than a 9r and isn’t able to compete with the competitions factory turbos nor the 9r… not saying it’s a bad sled but failure to catch up is showing… now cat has cancelled its factory race program this year and given the early somewhat lackluster reviews of the 858, seems cats demise isn’t far off.

I think the 858 is a great sled I think there Garmin display is top of the line as well. With some tuning and clutching I think it will do very well

I've been riding a 850 matryx, but went to a 858 this year. I can't compare with a 9r, but the 858 is in the same price/tier as the other 850s. And honestly, so far, I'm blown away! Keeping my 850 as a backup sled and I don't think I'll be using it much this year. Cheers!

I find it interesting that you call it a failure to catch up, I think they have caught up a significant margin. The chassis is now modern, they have the new motor, and a modern gauge. I’d like to add that this all happened within 2 years. Are they behind? Sure, but, they’re not failing to catch up 😂.
