well I suspect that most people who tried failed, and no one wrote a guide on how to make it work. Speedrunners tend to be people who rely on guides a lot. Its because most speedrunners arent actually good at they game they run. They just practice the same thing again and again and almost never experiment. While they can beat the game faster than most players a casual player can beat them in another aspect. Its the main reason I say speedrunners arent real gamers. They play a game once and the speedrun it. Most don't even bother trying new things really. Take squilla for example. One of the best speedrunners but if you ever watch him playing casually hes one of the worst players. Can't watch him he's so shit. I’m not that familiar with the Dark Souls speedrun routes but I want to say this in case this can be of use to someone: When I was replaying dark souls last month, I was venturing through New Londo Ruins when I got to the building with those dozens of ghosts that can pass through walls. While I was rushing through a tight corridor one of the ghosts grab attacked me and the tight space made my character clip inside the wall during the grabbing animation. When the animation was done my character fell off the map and at this point I was already swearing at my tv when I realized my character didn’t die and was in fact standing up INSIDE the Four Kings arena. I didn’t have the ring equipped so I just died and the message “you were taken by the abyss showed up” but the first thing I thought after that was that this could definetly be used as a speedrun strat.

I for one have just never cared about speedrunners in general and like to find different strategies in games just for my own amusement alone and never really care to tell anyone else about what i have done. So true, for me that's the beauty of it. A big competition but they work together on getting further.

Wait..... This was actually revolutionary?!? Been using this strategy myself way back when ds2 hadn't even come out yet, and I'm not even a speedrunner LMAO. Just thought that maybe there was a good way of killing him while he was still flying and started trying many different ways of doing just that. At first I was doing it with arrows, but I finally figured that magic was the way to go and found that that exact place to be the best place to shoot the magic arrows at.

Skyadain, the man how revolutionized a section of speedrunning 2 years ago on accident. Who knows maybe he’ll do it again and say that he discovered it a year ago and also thought it was useless. Considering how he thought this was useless

love the play by play editing. I'm surprised that the channels that get 90% of the souls-borne view traffic don't do this. sub.

It is extremely interesting and fascinating how people can be interested and fascinated by incredibly boring and pointless things. Not joking, there is real merit in illuminating such things about my fellow humans, and things they do and love.

It's always funny when a random strat you figured out years ago as a joke is now considered META lol Seems like several ppl in the comments already knew the HP trick and the deadzone spot as well!

I love how much of a shitshow Dark Souls Remaster was. Everyone got super excited for the teaser trailer! Wow! Dark Souls 1 with modern-day graphics and better combat?! We might even get some of the cut content restored! Then it's revealed it's just the lamest type of remastering. Where they just up the frame cap and fiddle around with some random stuff. So right here everyone was disappointed. Especially people on PC who didn't need this. Even Xbox players didn't struggle too much since Xbox One was backwards compatible and allowed for a more stable 30fps. But to make matters worse. They decide to delist the sale of the original Dark Souls on steam. Wouldn't be such a big deal right? Well, that is if you ignore the fact that mod support was completely ruined. Making important and popular mods not work for the new version! Then there is other stuff. Some gameplay changes did nothing but seem to harm the player experience more. I believe there is a speedrunning issue also? I think something about the in-game timer? There's also the fact that 60fps for a game never meant to have 60fps isn't always a great idea. I feel there are more issues I can't remember right now. But man, I just want to see a video going into detail of why the Remaster was so hated by a lot of the community. Obviously, the game is still Dark Souls. But there was just a lot of issues with it. Better yet though. I'd love to see a video of the speedruns of Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls Scholar of the First Sin edition. That changed a lot.

What did you use to record your in-game cinematics? Those were really well done. Also I love that you recreated the scene from the video at 6:20 just to record it as a freeze frame. That was really cool.

The production quality of this is the best I can say I've ever seen for a gaming documentary type of video! Seriously, great job with this! If you happen to see this comment, could you let us know what programs you used for all the editing and effects in this?
