A DRIVE AROUND AIREDALE & FRYSTON VILLAGE - CASTLEFORD

Was born at 116, Crew Road, in 1960, moved to Dawtrie Street in 1969. Went to Airedale infants, Airedale Juniors and High School. Did paper round and milk round all over Airedale. Used to love the woods, spent many a time riding my bike over the Volcano and the big ditch. Played at Redhill with Andy Good way, Gary Cocks, Steve Spedding and Ian Tansley. Committed the cardinal sin of joining Castleford Colts, went down hill from there, LOL. Moved to Barnsley in 2003, but still visit family. Brilliant video, brought back so many precious, and not so precious memories. Nearest thing to travelling back in time.

Brilliant video . It holds so many memories of me living there in the late sixties and seventies. My happy youth and sharing happier times there. I lived near Fryston Village and Airedale too and Castleford was indeed the town where we shopped there and even worked there. Now older living in care in York I would dearly love someone to drive me around like this again to relive it all once more ! Lovely watching this ..

Memory lane!!!! Thanks for that, it’s been a long time. I did not know it at the time but wasn’t Airedale designed well. Lots of space, big verges then the pavement then the drive. I think back as a kid riding round on my chopper bike. I’m sure there was a Daren Brown about my age or a year younger tall lad think his dad or grandad had a mobile grocery shop or a fish and chip shop I might be wrong it’s a long time ago.

Wow 16.26 that building used to be a school which i went to. I remember the area from around the late 90s. I used to live in airedale This has brought back some good and bad memories. Thanks for this video

Anybody remember the two vans in the seventies that sold groceries and sweets. One was a big white thing where you could step in at the back to buy stuff and the ther one was a bit smaller and you could go right inside to buy. I think one of them had a jingle and the other one advertised itself by shout something like hey banany. Just curious.
