Was looking forward to a Dex Number catching challenge Kept assuming Gen 1 would be the first 150 and so on for later Gen Pokémon I also don't understand the no going over rule if very close 3:43 surprised didn't put a no repeat clause but at least didn't catch any

I didn’t. It’s how all of these number style things work. If both go over then it goes to whoever is closest
