I was catching Golden Shiners today Richard!!! Using Live Worms weightless! They put up a good fight and I've heard they catch MONSTER bass!!! Based on today's video....i see what they mean!! Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee what HUGE bass there Richard!!!

I learned to fish shiner and balloon years ago down in south Florida. Haven't found shiners in Illinois but have caught bass using same technique and minnows.

I remember using balloons in Florida for bass fishing with shiners. Another reason we used balloons is because they would pop if bass goes into bull rushes or cattails so you could get them out easier

Yes! I used to drift shad minnows in the deep water channel in my hometown. A balloon about six feet from a dorsal hooked shad minnow is irresistible to Stripers. Works great on windy days too.

Used an underspin on light action tackle yesterday fishing for crappie. Caught a decent bass the right after caught an 18.5 in drum. That sucker fought. Had to retie after that.

Richard I like to think once in a while it is a small bass biting it but can’t quite get it in its mouth. Then the monster is swimming by and sees this and decides to take the small bass’s lunch.
