What is your favorite action in a rod?! Lemme know! I like a fast tip, myself….

Definitely agree on using a heavier rod for a popping cork. I’ve used a medium or medium light before and I feel like popping the cork takes so much more energy on a rod without a real backbone to it. Switched to a medium heavy and I can pop a cork with just a flick of the wrist most of the time. Really makes a difference on your wrist and arm at the end of the day. Awesome topic, thanks Capt!

Big fan of the Laguna guys and their products. They are great at narrowing down what you need for your specific fishing needs.

Excellent video. Really enjoying the Laguna Light Texas Wader 1. It’s my favorite rod.

The timing of this video is spot on. I have been surfing a tidal wave of useless information on WWW. Trying to find three rods that can bridge the gaps between Sheepshead to Tarpon, all casting rods. This video has definitely solved the first two rods for me. Now for the Tarpon rod.

Those rods may be the best in the world but I can't spend $450 for a fishin' pole. I got 3 all graphite Ugly Stik Carbon Inshore 7' rods for under $100 each and I have rods for all the different lures I use in the Chesapeake Bay for redfish, trout, flounder and hopefully stripers. They're all fast action but 3 different power ratings, medium light, medium and medium heavy basically. They're super light, they cast great and I don't have anything bad to say about them. The composite Ugly Stiks are fine for live bait or trolling or cut bait and some lures but they suck for jigs and casting all day. I'd love to find American made graphite rods for a reasonable price because over $150 is too much for something I might lose from my kayak.

I just bought the laguna light wader 2 for 350$ at a local tackle shop. I also know that there are tackle shops that sell the MED laguna liquid series for around 145$ (you can ship this on Johnnys sporting shop). Waterloo also has some awesome rods for the price (ex. salinity, salty mag etc.). a lot of these awesome laguna rods that should be sold for 450$ are now being sold for 50-150 dollars less because laguna stopped making them and the only other place that has them is a small tackle shop. I have an ugly stick my self and I love it but these rods from laguna and Waterloo just blow it out of the water. That is just my personal preference

One thing that still confuses me is the lure weight rating. The Trident rod was described as the rod for Corkys. Corkys weigh 5/8 oz but the lure rating on the rod is up to 1/2 oz. Will the rod get damaged throwing a lure that weighs more than the printed rating?

Have you done a video on reels? What's your choice brand? You don't strike me as a Abu Garcia fan boy. I prefer lews myself

I’m Shimano these days. Used to use the heck out of Lews and still have a couple in action. I’ll eventually do a video as to the reasoning of the switch. They are both really great reels, though.

@@CaptCalebTV I'm currently working at Fishing Tackle Unlimited and have met Zach and think he is a great asset for us who enjoy using top notch sticks! I think the Laguna line up is up at the top of the tide chart and own a few to speak from user experience 😅 Keep it up Zach and Randy
