In short this video is all about how to read sonar, SI and DI. Walleye fishing is all about reading your graph. Being able to decipher what you see is huge. I go through a number of screen shots explaining what I see and what I would use to catch these fish. I hope this video is useful as I can do many more of this style of video. Drop some comments below and let me know what you think. Thanks

Really enjoyed the screen shots and your explanations. NO GLARE on screen, big improvement. Screen shot 4 and 5 in the area back of where the boat has traveled is that small group of bait fish. You didn't mention this, I was wondering what they were. You have been a big help deciphering what is picked up on the screen. Now to get some of my settings dialed in a little better.

Love your videos, definitely helping me understand the Helix screen images. You often refer to slip bobbers which I totally enjoy fishing. I would like to see some close up details of how you put your slip bobber rigs together. Also, is there some kind of magic formula for how far behind the boat your bait needs to be in order to achieve a specific running depth, short of resorting to lead ore?

This is what i primarily fish up here in ontario. Thanks

Great video thanks for posting! I just updated my helix gen2 units software and it added a feature called “dynamic imaging contrast” have you played with this at all? I also see they added a feature where you can adjust the water column sensitivity independently and then it increases proportionately when you adjust the side and down imagining sensitivity. I have yet to try either feature though. I believe it’s software version 2.110

I see you run two units at the helm of your boat, I have a couple questions. I currently do not have down or side imaging only 2d and gps helix unit. After watching your videos I convinced myself I need side imaging. Would you think adding a second unit , non networking, would be worth it if I used my current on 2d and map and the new one on side and down imaging will the work or will the signals fight each other. Or just switch out my older one for a new one . Like the thought of a larger screen for mapping and not taking up space for detail on side image or down. What's your take on this and any pointers.

In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

at 10:46, the fish off the left side of your boat, how can you tell how deep they are?
@francismotzko8487
@francismotzko8487 4 жыл бұрын
I would assume that if this is level like a football field and you're on the 50 yard line, the depth would be the same all the way out to the edge on both sides as the 16.5 feet under your boat. The shadows are short enough that the fish are very near the bottom.

Not sure if anyone else does this, but i was going to throw some waypoints on my handheld this fall while i can still get around easy in the boat. Hey Tom, great vid here. My issue I am currently having is determining the difference between small rocks and actual fish/walleye. Any tips you would say here?
