Check out the gutters near singleton, golden Bay and that general stretch. There is a semi permanent gutter north of the tides cafe rock groyne, probably 30 metres out. Look for where the wave crashes, becomes white water then reforms. The second wave won't be particularly big. Outgoing tide will flush the herring/tailor/whiting out so if you can find the opening of the gutter you'll be right. Should be easy to pick out because the white water becomes blue water and the waves no longer break there (or less so). Tailor fillet, whole whiting or squid on a snelled rig works. Heavy 4-6 oz sinker. Get it nice and buried, set it a tall rod holder with loose enough drag to pull line but tight enough set the hooks and handle the swell. Circle hooks seem to work best. Ultimate tip, don't strike, let them hook themselves.

Another idea is take that bacon we love and wrap fish fillets with it.. kind of put cheese inside of your choice. Kind of like cheese stuffed bacon jalapeno wraps. Thats so yummy.

If you are here in wa you are gonna need a licence to use a throw net and there are certain beaches that you are aloud to use the throw net. They should all be on the fisheries page. Or you could just use a small sinker and hook with a small bit of prawn to catch them 🤙
