Yes, welcome to the HEARTBREAK CLUB. The range of emotions that final run of chapter 6 is what puts this game on a stand alone pedestal. You served Authur and Roach well. The initial part of jumping in as John is a big adjustment but give it time. Once again, Thanks for sharing Your journey as Authur. As I have said before, watching Your journey is the closest WE get to experiencing our 1st playthrough. Enjoy the remaining story.

Fun fact, Dutch's voice actor teared up on that last scene and he did confirm that in that exact moment on the mountain, Dutch regretted everything. I still love the detail of Javier never aiming his gun at Arthur and John. He instead aims upward. Him and Bill also disappear when the rest of the gang is chasing the two around. You can tell on Dutch's face that he knows Arthur is right at the end and that he regrets on some level the mistakes he made. But a key part of Dutch's character is his narcissism. He can't admit he was wrong. It's why he was speechless but his expressions gives it away. That was the closest he can get to saying he's sorry.

Few stories involve a fatal disease and it's one thing to lose a loved one suddenly, but another to watch them slowly die. A lot of games have sad deaths but Arthur's hits different. It doesn't make sense to folks who don't play games, but Arthur inspired me to be a better person, and since I finished my playthrough a while back, I've been kinder and more generous. It's odd to be so grateful to a man who never lived.

Arthur Morgan is not only one of the best characters in games, but also one of the best characters in media; truly an extraordinarily well-written character who is the heart of a tragically beautiful story. The writers evidently gave so much thought and care to his character and I'm so grateful to them for giving us one of the best protagonists I've ever seen in media. But Arthur would not have been complete without the acting and performance of Roger Clark. There was some exceptional display of talent in his work here, he truly brought Arthur to life in every way possible, it made it significantly more memorable and impactful and I can't laud his acting enough for that. Arthur Morgan will always hold a special place in my heart and losing him almost felt like losing someone I knew. I had to take a week's break after his death because I simply couldn't bring myself to play as John 'cause I missed Arthur too much. It almost felt like I was grieving him. So I understand if you feel like you have to take a short break too, but when I did come back to it a week later, it was absolutely worth playing it all the way to the end, and I love John as well. Not as much as Arthur, but I do love him. And I'm looking forward to you playing the epilogue and being part of the rest of this incredible journey

Arthur was the best character I've ever played as, I dont believe we will ever get a story half as impactful as this one. Also, when asked how Arthur wanted to die / be buried, he says "face me to the west so I can reflect on the sunset, and all the good times we had", instead he died facing east, in my opinion, gazing over bright new sunshine that he gave to so many people just before his passing, so that their journies could continue. Arthur is with Isaac now, and he's finally free from his own poor lifestyle.

Losing Arthur is one of the hardest video game deaths I've ever experienced. I cry every time I watch someone else go through it too lol. Arthur Morgan is, imo, one of the best story characters in existence (counting both video games and novels)! He's always felt so real, and watching him grow and change and eventually find redemption all while battling a progressive disease is just heart-wrenching. You can't help but come to love him, which makes losing him that much harder. And that scene where you lose your horse is also so sad and impactful as well, especially if you've kept the same horse through the majority of the story as you guys have. The storytelling in this game is absolutely insane, and it's been SO much fun getting to re-live it all with you guys. I've excitedly looked forward to new episodes every week, and while I'm sad it's going to be coming to an end soon, I'm super glad this series helped me discover your channel! I look forward to enjoying lots more games with you guys (and movies too)! I'm sure you already have a list of more games to play, but I hope Stray is on it! One of the conversations early in the game is about how some members of the gang would want to be buried. Arthur said "Face me to the west so I can watch the setting sun...". He died seeing the sunrise instead, which is even better - sunset was about good old times, sunrise is about new beginning. As for John, Arthur giving his hat and bag to John pretty much sealed it for me - he passed the torch. This may not be the character we love like Arthur, but this is the character Arthur would have wanted to go on, and it doesn't get more sacred than that. I think I almost heard him say "We both knew I would go, take care of him for me now".

And yes, this part of the game is Niagara falls for most of us, whoever does not cry here is not human, and that ride, with THAT song, desn't help to not cry And see, that is why the decisions mattered, even in the little missions, if you had not done some of them or decided something different, those tear jerker comments while riding would not have been there BTW, notice how Javier tries to keep his gun pointed to the air, he IS loyal, Arthur was his friend, and after Guarma he started to realize that Dutch might not be all there, but still wanted to be loyal, although was not about to point a gun at his friend, unlike Bill I do believe that Dutch's was a mix of senility and mental issues aggravated by the trolley wreck, the moment Grimshaw is shot, he is pointing the gun at both sides, not knowing what is real, confused and realizing all he thought might have been a lie, but he was also at a point of no return after betraying Arthur and John, his two "sons" and by omission killing Grimshaw and driving Uncle, Mary Beth, Pierson, Reverend and Trelawny away, so he was like, "no turning back, who is with me" and at the end, he ends up alone, without his REAL family and without the rats and that is why he was so bad off and deranged later on when John is hunting him down(Note that neither Bill nor Javier are riding with him as he chases Arthur down, it is only the rats and Micah, and IMO that is what causes both Bill and Javier to lose sight of themselves and turn so bad in the end, they betrayed their friends by omission and followed a man that was not what they believed, but noticed it after they could do nothing to save the situation, so they went at it alone) That "thank you" to the horse and those last moments of Arthur with John are heartbreaking, especially when he gives him his hat and satchels U.U You gotta visit the graves of everyone, from Jenny to Grimshaw, but you will need a guide for that lol Note that almost nothing west of blackwater is marked missions, you have a LOT to do there, but is just not marked

They say they want to die around friends and then when Hosea asks Arthur how he wants to die he says he wants to die facing the setting sun. I think him dying facing the rising sun signifies how he didn’t go how he wanted and the end of his life didn’t go how he wanted but the end was still beautiful because he did get what he wanted

Oh boy, where do I begin? First off, thanks for letting us be part of this incredible journey for well over 5 months. Your playthrough is one of my absolute favourites! This episode was an emotional rollercoaster, mostly emotionally draining, but it hurt so good. The last ride with Arthur absolutely destroyed me during my first playthrough, everything from then onwards was just emotional turmoil for me, I teared up again when I lost my horse and during the passing of the baton (the hat) to John. And after all this time, I still teared up during all those scenes in this episode. It's always tough to watch those scenes, but my word, all those scenes are so incredibly well-written and shot, and exceptionally well acted. We all grew attached to Roach, and as much as it hurt to lose him, at least he wasn't left alone with no one to care for him. I'll miss you Roach, and I'll absolutely miss your Arthur after having watched your version of Arthur for 5 long months. What a profoundly beautiful game, but as others have said, it's not over yet, and it's absolutely worth seeing it through to the end, which I know you will

Watching the ending sequences of the last two episodes I still feel things remembering what it was like for me going through this for the first time. RDR2 delivers several heavy gut punches in a row in the last moments of the main story. Arthur's death hit me harder than any other fictional character ever has. Rockstar make an amazing protagonist and Roger Clark gave an award winning performance voicing Arthur in my opinion. Seeing the end of Arthur's story almost felt like losing somebody I knew for real. Needing a break before playing the epilogue as John is completely understandable. I needed a short break myself. That said don't let it sit too long. The story was hugely about redemption, Arthur's redemption. Noticed also how Javier was conflicted, he was loyal to Dutch, but he was unable to point the gun at Arthur, he still respected him. His passing really got me, Joel and Arthur are two characters that have been significant. Even in real life following the philosophy of *Doing good and being good to oneself and unto others* It's tough when you empathise with a character, see him or her develop, know his thoughts, his interactions, changes and then to lose him. That feeling hasn't happened that way with a character, but Arthur. I adopted many horses, but Isabelle (a white Shire) was the one that went to end with me, with Arthur. Felt like a teenage girl when she died.

2:49:24 he got an expression of a sad face. The voice actor Benjamin Byron Davis who played Dutch said at the con that after he went behind the rocks, he starts to cry a bit in the motion capture. However, I think for the story, Dutch realized who the traitor when was confronted by Arthur but at that moment he can’t act up as usual and confront Micah about it

I have not long finished playing and I sobbed so much. My kids came into the study to ask what was wrong, well they rolled their eyes when I said Arthur and his horse just died. Its amazing how attached you can get to a character. I personally feel if you are like that your a very empathetic person.

I actually spoiled the game for myself (damn the algorithm) and knew that Arthur will get sick and die. Funny thing, the spoiler ended up not taking away anything from me. I was just as nervous as the story progressed, I was just as angry and frustrated and even though I would have seen the ending coming without the spoiler too, I was just as heartbroken and shaken. I could barely see anything during the last half hour for I was sobbing...And for a solid few days afterwards, any time I thought about it, I started crying again (and I thought about it a lot :) ) And after over a 1000 hours spent in the game, it still gets me every time. So, I was right there with you Sarah. :) Thanks for sharing the playthrough with us and letting us coming on this ride. I hope you do enjoy the rest, and as always, go at your own pace, whatever feels right for you. Have a lovely day.

I’m pretty sure most of you have already figured this out or simply gathered this but I think it’s interesting how Ms. Grimshaw dies. At first it may look like the writers just rushed it, but if you think about it, her quick demise goes full circle with Molly. Earlier in the game Molly is shot by Ms. Grimshaw because they believe she was the rat (obviously due to Molly’s rant towards Dutch) and without Molly realizing it or sees it coming.. bam! She’s shot by Ms. Grimshaw. I imagine when finding out that Micah was the rat from Arthur (who of course she trust’s) she’s ready to side with Arthur and she points the same shotgun she killed Molly with at Micah. I like to believe (of course in theory) 3 things were going through Ms. Grimshaw’s mind. 1. Remorse for Molly 2. To use the same shotgun as justice 3. Completing her duty as the Arbiter of the gang Then as we all saw before she realizes it or sees it coming.. bam! she’s shot by Micah and dies for a few painful seconds. I know I wrote a whole paragraph about what we already saw but I had to dissect it all because 3 things are fucking nuts about all that. 1. Ms. Grimshaw dies exactly the way she killed Molly. 2. Ms. Grimshaw killed Molly who she thought was the rat and ends up dying by the actual rat. 3. She had at least less than a minute of agonizing pain from her gun shot wound while Molly died instantly from hers. Almost like the Universe was punishing Ms. Grimshaw for acting impulsively and killing Molly and gave her that short agonizing time to feel and reflect on what she had done. My point is everything comes full circle. I’m sorry for this huge essay. For anybody that made it through to the end of this I would like your take on it. 1. Do you agree with everything I said? 2. Do you agree with only some of it? 3. What is your theory or way of looking at it?

It’s kind of like real life, where you always think you have more time with your loved ones than you do. It can happen in an instant. I didn’t cry very much during my first playthrough because I was just in shock too. But my second play through and watching other play, I cried plenty. Arthur is the best protagonist of any game I’ve played. I believe the epilogue is about 7-8 years later. There’s still some great story to come in the Epilogue!! Part 1, you’re kind of limited on what you can do, so I recommend just doing the story missions. But once you get to the second part the world opens up and if there are any side missions you didn’t do, they will be available again and you can do what you want again. Loved your playthrough and can’t wait for more!

We called this red dead depression when the first wave of us completed the main game. Years later and after seeing many playthroughs has not changed the feelings. The team really knew how to get people emotionally invested in the characters and even the video game horse. Can you believe that although it won 4 awards at the video game awards it didn't win game of the year? Losing to a sony exclusive at the time. God of war was good but I doubt anyone would have shed a tear if Kratos had died at the end.

I know some people wanted them to do Hamish's mission later as John, but those comments hint at spoilers and have the players guessing as to why they've been asked to wait. But the MAIN reason why it's best to do the last Hamish mission as Arthur and NOT John is because it just much more impactful since Arthur and Hamish developed a friendship over the course of these missions, so it just makes more sense to get closure with Arthur, with Arthur there by Hamish's side as he draws his last breath. And as Eric & Sarah said, if not for tips, they would've gone ahead and done it anyway, and it just so happens that it's also better this way. Doing that mission with John is far less impactful even if it is cool to see the dialogues all those years later, but doing it primarily for Buell is not worth it imo

Yep, I would agree with that summary too Jay. I felt a real sense of relief when they mentioned in the video they were going to do it with Arthur, after the 'will they/wont they' vibes based on what people had commented previously. Like E&S suggested, it's only natural for them to have done so - if they were to follow the approach they've taken throughout the entire series - rather than be influenced by 'backseating/influence' from those who've already had their own first experience of the game at the closing stages of Arthur's journey. It ensured that the final parts of their 'blind play through' with him maintained the sense of authenticity - and will hopefully continue to do so in the epilogue.

2:17:59 I think Dutch seeing that boy who was by his side for more than 20 years, (Arthur) the one who supported him through thick and thin, and despite everything Dutch did, is still there in his last breaths Trying to make him open his eyes, Dutch finally reacted and realized his enormous failure, how he had failed everyone for someone like Micah, so he left, with no one but his remorse. Rewatching the last few episodes before your finale Your $15 dollar horse pulled 1 million heartstrings. RIP Roach Arthur got his redemption by getting John out and to his family. He helped so many people along the way. Hamish Sinclair became his friend, he gave an old man something to do and someone else to talk to. Charlotte lives because of him. Edith Downes and her boy live very comfortably after being the start of their downfall. He restored Brother Dorkins faith in humanity. Mrs Londonderry and J John Weather's, he absolved their debt and gave them a fair chance at a decent life. He helped the waring brothers to realise a girl was pulling them apart. The list goes on and on.. He got the chance to help so many people even if he was the root of their imminent downfall. He worked hard to redeem himself. He was a good man with a heart. All us girls fell in love with Arthur and we really mourned him. Still do. Everytime I play the game I cry. Everytime I watch someone else cry at Arthur's demise, I cry. But with all stories. You can't have a happy ending without the sad bits first. Let's hope John can redeem himself...
