Catching a chicken Killer

a varmint caught and killed a mama hen with about 10 chicks here in the back yard under a cold frame we are starting watermelons in. Brody said daddy let's get some traps and catch that critter. we lost the thing and a 1.5 duke trap because I failed to realize I sprung the connection to the ground anchor when I pulled the traps up. 2 days later Brody found the critter in the woods by the location we set the traps. #gamefowl #chickens #trapping

Thank you Sue. I started not to tell him what happened but then i thought why should i lie to him hes got to learn about real life. The good and the bad and why we do things that some people think are wrong but are necessary here in rural life

@@SpiritoftheOutdoors I’ve never seen opossum up here but, coons, fox, coyotes and porcupines, Black bear, wolf, Eagles, hawks and Turkey Vultures. Kind of wish we had opossums to knock the tick population down

@@pappyoh1 they dont eat enough ticks to make a difference. We got more ticks than you can shake a stick at. Some anti trapper made that up just cause they dont want to see them killed. They eat dead stuff mostly but an easy chicken or nesting turkey . They have wiped the quail out and thinned the turkeys but we got plenty ticks

Brody is really getting the hang of this video stuff. That chicken story got told about my great uncle Martin Evans and his trap tail drawers..killed every chicken in the chicken house. LOL!

Years back we had some game that run loose on the yard. The hens had spurs , just not as big as roosters. Changed things about getting eggs ,cause they didn't think twice about jumping a fellow . Brody your welcome 😊

Try a blind set to Justin in the path he was using, in case it was a coyote or fox. They tend to be more Leary at baited sets, Brody’s ready to chop his head off Lol! Can’t blame him!

I have better luck with the hens setting hanging two or three rabbit cages on the wall with a nets in each one and when a hen starts setting, shut her up by her self with water and food. Good luck!

Raising chickens is never easy in the eooded areas i had 20 5 month old easter eggers i hatched out that got killed in one night!! think i didnt go on the warpath!!! Git em young man!! Your daddy should be proud!!!

Around my chicken there are foxs and somethibg like a dog, it's sht is not like a fox sht. Around my chicken I spread the sht of my dogs and urine of humans. Now it is more quiet in the nights. Until now, knock knock, no dead chicken. Love your video's will make soon the wild lettuce sirop too. Thank you very much.
