These varments had destroyed literally 80 pines on my property when I first moved on the property didnt think they was that destructive till years later my pines fell to the ground including shrubs the hawk is the best tool to use I dont use a probe I just shove water hose down the center of mound for minute opens the hole then set the trap works every time

Thanks for the tip Burt. Those dang things have killed hundreds of my blueberry plants over the years eating the roots of the plants. The hawk traps have definitely made it easier for me to eliminate some of them. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 👍

@@TheBlueberryFarmer I use the same technique you have shown for moles (I don't have gophers). The tunnels are shallow and you may have to bring out some soil to make some trap supporting mounds... but 72 kills here and it's the best trap in the world!

I had my dog digging up the back yard trying to get a gopher. After a week, my yard looked like trenches in WWI France. I didn't want to use poison and ruled out a lot of traps because I didn't want to hurt the dog. The gopher hawk was the solution. I'd set it at night after the dog came in. The third night, the gopher was caught about 10 minutes after I placed it. There was only 1 gopher so the problem was solved.

i got one t of my mole for moles in my yard. That cage catch area is easy to bend and moles tunnels are too close to the surface so when the trap is set the pole w the springs on it didn;t stand upright. it works best when the hole is more than 8 inch or so deep. I'll keep trying
@TheBlueberryFarmer Жыл бұрын
It definitely catches gophers better than moles. I haven’t found anything to really get rid but f moles yet except a dog I had but all the digging he did made the yard a little rough lol. Thank you for the comment 👍

I bought an auger to make the hole. It works great.
@TheBlueberryFarmer Жыл бұрын
Hey Russ that’s a great idea. Where did you pick it up from?
@russshaber8071 Жыл бұрын
@TheBlueberryFarmer I picked up the auger at Harbor Freight, $25. The idea came to me while trying to use the tool that came with the trap in hard ground. It just wasn't working for this old guy. The trap is 1 1/2" the auger is 1 1/8", so I still use the tool to get a nice snug fit. It's fast, easy, and effective.

Use peanut butter on the trap trigger and you'll catch more gophers. I had bought two gopher hawks and had given up using them. But then I watched a KZbin movie where the guy used peanut butter on the trap trigger. I've trapped four gophers in five days using peanut butter, where as before the dam things would pack dirt around the trap. Good luck folks!
