Catching Live Fish & Visit to 300 YRS OLD House 🏡🎣😱 | Raining Smiles in Kerala Ep-7

Welcome back to Raining Smiles, and this time, we start our day in the tranquil beauty of Kollam! The early morning here greeted us with breathtaking views of the backwaters and coconut trees swaying in the breeze - the perfect backdrop to start an exciting adventure.
Joined by Rupali, Umesh, and the amazing Chef Arun, we set off on a special mission - to catch fish the local way! There’s something so magical about being on a boat, trying our hand at fishing, while watching the locals go about their daily life on the water. Some were selling fresh fish right from their boats, others were expertly casting their nets, and it was truly a surreal experience to be a part of this. The warmth and smiles of the people here in Kerala never fail to touch my heart. We even spotted the iconic Chinese fishing nets strategically placed in the backwaters - a sight that stays with you. 🌊
We managed to catch a few fish ourselves and even bought some from the fishermen. Thank you, Chef Arun, for this incredible first-time experience - it was pure joy! 🎣
After our fishing adventure, it was time for a delicious breakfast spread that blew us away. We enjoyed Kerala’s finest - kadala curry, puttu, fresh prawn curry, and a sweet treat called elanji, which I tasted for the first time. What a sumptuous meal! And if that wasn’t enough, we were in for another surprise. Suja, a baker I met the day before, gifted us with a beautifully baked cake and other thoughtful gifts. What a sweet end to an already beautiful morning! 🍰
We then visited a 300-year-old traditional Kerala house that The Leela team had beautifully restored into a luxurious stay, blending old-world charm with modern amenities. Walking through the house was like stepping into a piece of Kerala’s history - simply stunning. 🏡
Kollam has truly been an unforgettable experience, filled with warmth, beauty, and heartfelt moments. Every corner of this place continues to rain smiles.
