mmmm, garlic butter yabbies. The best way to eat them. Also Chilli Yabbies. Some chopped chillis or chilli flakes (fresh is best of course), a bit of olive oil, some fine diced garlic, ginger and onion. Coat the boiled tails, allow to sit for a while to marinade and toss in hot pan. Yummo.

Thanks mate. That sounds great, but I have to admit, I'm not much of a chilli eater. I love garlic, but not chilli so much.
@AndrewFishman2 күн бұрын
@@robbiefishing Fair enough. My nan used to do a fish and yabbie hot pot. Basically a bunch of vegetables and herbs roughly chopped, then what ever fish frames and the meat cut into chunks, the yabbies added and the whole lot boiled for hours. It did not matter to her if we caught trout and Redfin or cod and Yellowbelly, she would chop them all up and add them if she was in the mood for a fishpot stew.

Good to see the catch and cook again. It wouldn't matter what type of net you used in that spot because you would have got them anyway. What I cannot see is somewhere to put your details on the net, maybe a small string to connect a float with your details and you would know where they were then. Nice feed of yabbies and the Garlic Butter was the perfect choice. Thumbs up Robbie 👍

Thanks so much mate. When I've needed credentials on the nets I've been using masking tape. I do need to rig up something better. It will need to be something that I can clip off, or untie so as to keep them easy to pack up and fold away.

That actually is healthy, high fat and no carbs. Those short cut bacon peices are a good choice. Some people might argue that the butter isn't healthy but it's ok in moderation. Salt free butter would probably be better and just use a couple of teaspoons of crushed garlic from a jar. Looks bloody yummmmm ❤❤

Robbie, an earlier comment beat me to it, but that was absolutely healthy. If you had put the yabbies and bacon in a sandwich or roll, that would make it unhealthy, it’s the processed carbs that are the problem. As a type 2 diabetic I’ve been on a keto, (high fat, low carb) diet for 2 years and I’ve lost 25 kg and do not take any diabetic medication at all and my kidney function improved immediately. I have mentioned to you before that you look like a prime candidate for type 2 and I often think to myself that’s where you’re headed. I’m only saying this because I worry about you and it seemed like an apt time to mention it.

The only down-side would be you spend less time in nature catching enough Yabbies for a feed. 🤣😂

Hi mate, I have heard that myself but I don't believe it to be honest.

The yabbies woke up big and hungry this year, unfortunately for them so did Robbie

Bacon in garlic butter? Are you serious? 6 pieces of bacon…WOW!

I know it looks a bit light on, but I put a few more bits in when the camera was off just because I knew there would be wankers wanting to leave unnecessary comments about my personal food choices. 👍

Who cares about healthy eating when you only have once in a blue moon, or even twice! It’s definitely the best way I’ve ever eaten Yabbies. Those nets really are a great addition to your arsenal, the ease of checking, getting the Yabbies out and returning the net is so satisfying to watch. Well done mate, it’s Yabbie time again! 🎉

Thanks so much Kevin. I'm really enjoying using these nets for those very reasons. 👍👍

Never ever use garlic on crustaceans. All you need is salt and maybe some melted butter.

They were lobsters not yabbies 🤣🤣 In a way you did a bit of herd management too taking the monsters that probably don't have long left and releasing females and alot of the males in their prime for producing
@robbiefishing2 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. Haha Herd management, I like that!

The flies during summer are atrocious. Despise them so much

I still think the other nets are better you loose more with these

They all have there place. The other nets don't fold down and fit into my backpack though, and the cords tangle more. They all have their place. 👍👍

I think it’s more the dam than the net and yabbies falling out as you bring it in. It’s a great video, but not really loving the nets.

Thanks mate. It's a ripper if a dam that's for sure.
