I have a tip for you Robbie, you might already know, but with the net that keeps tangling, if you run a wire across the diameter of the top ring of the Pot and attach the bait in the middle of the wire it doesn't matter where your bottom ring lands the bait will always be in the centre of the pot if you know what I mean, hopefully so will the crays. Cheers mate.

For breeding if a male is able to attract a female and is strong enough to turn her onto her back he is able to inseminate her. The female can hold the sperm inside her after being inseminated and she makes herself pregnant when she feels comfotable enough. So just one inseminated female can restock an entire river on her own. That's why throwing the pregnant females back is so important. It is fascinating to watch them try to breed especially in a tank when multiple males and females are fighting to be the alpha while also trying to mate. They are incredibly intelligent when observed over long term. I have seen a female kill an alpha that was in a fight with a subdominant and then she later was flipped over by the male she saved. I highly recommend you catch a bunch of tiny yabbies and watch them grow up in a tank. Not too many so that you can count and keep track so that over time you can learn their personalities. It is a very rewarding experience although you must be prepared for them fighting all the others until there is just a male and female left.
