Catching the best live natural food for your Betta and other freshwater fish!

The nutritional content of Moina varies considerably depending on their age and the type of food they are receiving. Although variable, the protein content of Moina usually averages 50% of the dry weight. Adults normally have a higher fat content than juveniles. The total amount of fat per dry weight is 20%-27% for adult females and 4%-6% for juveniles according to edis.ifas.ufl.....
Moina has been a staple food source for many breeders of bettas and fish in Asia since it can be used to feed the smallest of fry and fed all throughout their growing stage.
Day 3 after hatching some fry are still too small to catch and eat food such as baby brine shrimps so they may even die due to starvation and growth stunting, moina comes in all size since when they first hatch their size is usually microscopic so the smallest of fry can still catch and feed on them.
Moina also lives in freshwater so if you are feeding live food into a tank it does not foul the water since the moina rarely dies and can even start a stable natural source of food for your fish in their tanks for days or permanently by reproducing.

That is true superfood, yes. Quite easy to breed too, I used to have 4-5 small containers with Moina in my fishroom. But of course, if you have that many Moina outdoors, it is easier to catch them. I´m not envious... :D

Mouna is just a natural crustacean that harbors all body if water, they multiply like crazy when the water becomes riddled with algae
