The traitor video is supposed to show the closure of the SOUR-time. There are old aspects from the other songs and videos. For example the good 4 u pool shot at the end, the mirror from déja vu the field from sour PROM. Also in the water there are different things such as car keys for Drivers License.

Hey Michael, I think you touched upon answering your own question about the Traitor video. It's the juxtaposition of being in stereotypical happy places where young people would hang out with friends while she is obviously consumed emotionally by something very sad. I think it's a very relatable idea. Going out with friends who want to cheer you up. But all you think about is that thing that is making your heartache. Olivia live might be more impressive than the studio version. She is either spot on reproducing her performances or she is outperforming her recordings. She emotes like she is feeling everything in the moment, and she and her band understand things like wide dynamics and punching up the dramatic parts. They actually rock out which is so cool. This young lady is special and is leading a wave of young songwriters/performers who are bringing popular music back from overproduced nonsense to thoughtful emotional meaningful works of art. Raising the bar for everyone. As for her tone, live, Olivia brings down some of the songs in key to center her vocal range. It's genius and protects her voice when she sings live. It takes nothing away from the songs. And lets her sound even more expressive. How important is it for there to be a young role model musician who amps up her presence by bringing an all-female band out on the road with her. (I am told her lead guitarist just finished touring with Halsey. Love that.) She is amazing.

WAIT. I also didn't totally get the "traitor" MV, but because of this reaction I might now...I think it represents the whole Sour era. The field of Sour Prom, the lights of "drivers license", the water shots from "good 4 u", the ballet shoe from "brutal", etc. And how while everybody was having fun (like the friends on the video) she was actually just reminiscing of her pain and she felt like she was trapped on a glass box for everyone to see and think her suffering was "aesthetic" and "artistic" when in reality she was just a teenager going through heartbreak, so when she finally leaves all it's confusing, and she even smiles sometimes, like...yeah, sometimes she did have fun, but then she closed the door to say goodbye to the whole era cause she was ready to leave it behind. Very confusing video. 😂
