Todd Moen @CatchMagazine The warm feelings inside from these videos should be appreciated by a larger audience. I’ve watched almost every video you’ve produced and each one is above and beyond the previous one. Phenomenal workmanship.

The complexion of the lower Columbia where I live is so much different than this. My 'home river' is the Deschutes. _It's where I charge my batteries._ I've always preferred river fishing over lakes. All of my senses come alive as I do my best to 'think like a fish'. Figuring out the best holding areas, feeding lanes, turning over rocks to see what they're feeding on, watching the surface for rises and bulges, etc. There's just so many things you get turned into. All the problems in life get crowed out.

Multiple small river-mouths flowing into that upper (US) section of the Columbia used to be populated with more easily accessed (no jet boat required) trout - and then walleye began to dominate these spots.

Don't know if you remember but I was going on that 2 month fishing road trip and wanted to say it went amazingly! caught 60 species and some nice trout on the fly as well on the South Holston in Tennessee. You should do a shoot there the scenery is incredible and your eye would capture it well! my goal for this steelhead season coming up in Ohio is to catch a fish on the swing

Question : ?? .. Are these Resident Fish ...?? [ are they trapped in a Section of Rvr - with / No Access to Downstream Migratory Habit ...?? ] Are they late Summers / Pre Spawn ..??
@09oconnorr6 жыл бұрын
These are resident native Red Band Rainbows. Technically they could migrate upriver or downriver from here a ways, but dams are an issue. Being residents though, this area really is their stronghold.

I do enjoy your work Mr. Moen but if I may rant for a second. Every time I see a person snip off a tag end of line and just let it fall wherever, I cringe. It takes 600 years or more for monofilament and fluorocarbon to decompose. It's just like hunting; police you brass, police your trash. Rant off.
@jred51536 жыл бұрын
Don't be afraid to educate/coach your fishing partners and pressure the Industry to start a campaign that touts responsible use of their products and keep our wild land and water clean and pure for generations to come.
@pr0faker6 жыл бұрын
Although I understand the point, is it not going a bit far when you see them driving a jet boat up a river making quite a lot more polution than that 1 inch of mono that for the rest won't do much to the enviroment? If possible I keep line with me and snip off as little as possible but still, there are things that are way more important to point out in this world.
@jred51536 жыл бұрын
pr0faker I put it to you then Mr. Faker what is more important than clean water? Your “there are bigger problems” attitude is precisely the reason nothing gets done. While yes I dislike the jet boat aspect as well, boats are here to stay. But policing your trash can easily become a real and impactful movement. I am old enough to remember what is was like here in the United States when our waterways and air were polluted on a massive scale. But a grass roots movement by citizens lead to the forming of the EPA. Slowly but surely our water and air improved. It is all connected. One small change can have great impact in good way and in bad ways as well. I choose good. Cheers
@Slotty_Botfast6 жыл бұрын
On my last guided trip to the Columbia River, my guide did the same thing. I made the cringe face. On my local rivers, I am constantly picking up mono and braid that were discarded as well when I find them.

I enjoyed the video and I appreciate the guides in this video but the message that Eddie Bauer is an outdoor store I cant buy..I worked for EB back in the days it was a valid outdoor store but they punted the image, the staff and their customers to go for mall stores and fashion clothing. The way I feel about it is EB you made your bed now you cant flip your preferences and expect us to come back to you..I will never buy from EB and havent for over 30 years!!

If you walk along the Columbia river, as I do often, as I fish it regularly, you can see old broken rods in the river. The banks along Trail, are littered with bags from Canadian Tire and Wal Mart. Even old reels, which I grab. Styrofoam worm containers, and miles, yes, miles of line. Each time I go out, I bring a grocery bag, up to a garbage bag full home. Timmy's cups,paper and plastic. Rotten Ronnie garbage. Old chairs are common now. Never mind the empty beer and cooler bottles. Yep, bottles. .. Empty beer cans by far outnumber the bottles, thankfully. You can sit on the rocks anywhere, and watch boaters as well as shore fishermen throw empty liquor bottles into the lakes and rivers. No evidence, no impaired charge I guess. I guess the difference between an angler, and someone who fishes is anglers bring garbage out with them. All our local fisheries are turning out more garbage than ever. I have even had my life threatened by supposed fishermen for telling them to take their garbage with them. So yep, times are changing. As#$oles outnumber good people everywhere now. Especially where access is easy...
