I love cats and all the subtle things you can tell about them through their behavior. A kitty who genuinely thought her baby was in danger would likely hiss, growl and attack whatever was threatening it with all her might. A truly threatened mama probably wouldn't even let a human or anything else get close to her kittens. But this kitty clearly trusts her owner, she just physically and verbally insisted her baby be returned to her littermates without having to resort to violence. So precious.

@juanjose2191 Cats get scared; they get hungry and have strategies for how to not be hungry anymore like the cats on my street who know damn well that if they allow me to pet them for a minute when I see them outsides, then biscuits will follow soon after; They come up with ingenious ways to get into pizza boxes and steal my pizza; they know when you are angry, happy or sad and can act accordingly; All that stuff is processed in their brains, brains which are used for thinking. That makes me miss the days when my husband would bring home litters of baby kittens, most with the umbilical cord still attached. He would find them at his job in abandon cars on the lot mostly. In hot trunks or underneath the seat. He'd bring them home and I'd bottle feed them and our family would love them till they were old enough to be adopted out. Of course we kept some. Had 10 cats till recently. Now we have 6. There's something about cats. They aren't hard to fall in love with. We have been truly blessed with all the beautiful fur babies we've encountered and cared for over the last 30yrs of our marriage. Sorry about the book. Just brought me back to a happy place. And I needed that today.

I enjoyed your story - thanks for sharing. I take in wandering barn cats that show up in my backyard (one’s cuddling beside me now). Although I’ve never rescued tiny babies, I did capture two kitten sisters about 6-8 weeks old last fall from under my neighbour’s porch. I gave them to my older cat as his adopted daughters and he just loves them. Gives them loving grooming sessions.

It's funny how some cats are super protective against everyone and how others are pretty chill with their owners seeing the babies. When our cat had kittens she jumped up onto the bed in the middle of the night and woke us up, and wouldn't leave us alone until we followed her all the way to the closet where she'd given birth. She was so excited to show them to us
