No tears shed for her, she got exactly what she campaigned for. Kudos to Cate for this performance👏👏

In the end you can't really feel bad for Phyllis. Not because it's karma for a female misogynist but she got what she campaigned for. She said the happiest place for a woman is the kitchen and there she is where she says a woman's "proper place" is. Lesson to be learned here is that if you fight for an unjust world, don't expect to get an exception or some sort of special treatment.

True...It's sad because she was inteligent and determind.

I also felt sorry for her, especially in this Reagan scene. She has succeeded in helping Reagan be a president but she did not get a position. Cate Blanchett's acting is so good in this scene that I felt sorry for this Phyllis: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGS2Znd_jd6lj5I

@@LoveBlueOcean1 giving her a position would spell disaster for the Reagan administration. Why would you give a government position to a woman who campaigned and preached that a woman's proper place is in the kitchen? It would be a total contradiction and hypocrisy.

Enjoy your KARMA, Mrs Schafly! LOL! (P.S: I hated the character a lot, I mean she is so smug, petty, insulting, selfish, condescending, hypocritical and so on, the scene where she insults Betty Friedan in the debate cemented my hate for her because she can’t even debate properly without making personal attacks at her opponent instead of attacking the argument! that’s ad hominem, a fallacy!!! I've felt very sorry for Betty, i mean, she didn't deserve to be insulted like that )

I don’t think the point is for you to feel sorry for her as an Individual. I think the point is that for all her rejection and opposition to feminism she is the same cage the feminist movement is trying to smash. The song is Little Weaver Bird by Molly Drake - there is the lyrics that speak for themselves but also the context of the recording. Drake was a mother and housewife who had a music career in her youth but after marriage that finished, she wrote and recorded these songs at home and only heard by friends and family. These songs and her poetry were only discovered after her death because the interest in her son Nick’s music and only appreciated for her own songwriting independently of Nick Drake over the last decade or so.
