Because she's an amazing actor, and a movie can't just be made for Borderlands players, it has to appeal to the masses to be profitable. Nobody is gonna go see a video game movie with unknown actors.

They did not completely adapted the storyline of the game itself but the characters only , so to fit the movie's narrative which includes tannis being old they have to cast Jamie

Nah bro, they wrote the character, hired curtis and went through script editing (as with literally every film ever made). And as the original story has tannis young, they didn't make her old because of the story, they changed the story to make her old. If this wasn't the case tannis would be old in the games
