I don't want to make assumptions about where your from ... but there's a level of sarcastic humour that is shared by both the British and Australians that is a kind of friendly banter. She wasn't being 'shady' at all (if that's what you infer) rather, she was flattering the interviewer by engaging in a witty exchange that one might have with a friend. I have seen her do this with co-stars in interviews. It's just her sense of humour.

I started to like her because of her voice. It's so unique and she is able to grab your attention to her even in a crowded marketplace. Don't get me started on Thor Ragnarok. Always loved me some Cate. I first noticed in her in The Talented Mr. Ripley. In a film absolutely loaded with great acting, she still really shined. Then The Aviator sealed it. I was like, this is one of the all-time greats. Edit: I have literally been lying here thinking about how great she was in Ripley for the last few minutes. If you've never seen it, it's one of the smaller roles in the film. She may only have around ten minutes of screen time when it's all said and done. But you can't take your eyes off her. I've seen it a few times over the years and now, knowing what she would become, it's like seeing Denzel in his small role in A Soldier's Story. Something just, like, highlights them when they're on the screen and you're like, yes, THAT is a STAR.
