I never knew Todd was the actor from Kubrics masterpiece Eyes Wide Shut, the pianist who reveals to Tom Cruise the entry password ‘Fidelio’. But with Tar I did have an uncanny similar experience to watching Eyes Wide Shut- it just pulls you in and you are on a journey with the protagonist… Its also a movie, just like EWS, that requires the viewer to watch it Many times to pick up all the details, symbols, nuances. Did I like it? I truly adored this film and will be watching it again very soon! However Eyes Wide Shut is still on the podium as my favourite

Tar, along with In The Bedroom and Little Children, should be added to the Criterion Collection as a Todd Field trilogy. Oh wait, he's not Lynch or Wes Anderson, sorry there's no room for him
